I was referred to Mr Attar after a consultation at an urgent care centre at the Lister hospital for a suspected kidney stone and subsequent infection. I was given an appointment very quickly for a CT scan and a follow up consultation on the same day. As the kidney stone was blocking the kidney, I was advised to consider surgery, or alternatively a shockwave treatment to try and fragment the stone. Mr Attar understood my fears in relation to surgery and confirmed the shockwave treatment, but I was advised to go straight to A&E if I had fever, even a low grade one. Unfortunately that happened the next day. Mr Attar and his amazing PA Lisa directed me to Chelsea and Westminster hospital’s A&E as Mr Attar was in the hospital that day. He visited me in A&E to advise on our next steps and I was hospitalised in the private wing the day after with Lisa’s help. I had to undergo two procedures in a week to put in a stent and remove the stone. One at Chelsea and Westminster, one at Princess Grace. Then a third quick procedure involved removing the stent at Chelsea and Westminster again. Everything was clearly explained to me by Mr Attar and his colleagues, and I was grateful for their patience as I was extremely anxious. Mr Attar offered superb after care, by checking on me almost daily when I was in hospital or over the phone once I was released. Lisa, Mr Attar’s PA, has been easy to reach, personable and very responsive.
