Mr Julian Flynn

I was self-funding my treatment/procedure and I wanted to ensure that I was getting the very best treatment and quality care that was available to me. I did a lot of research and fact finding before choosing Mr Flynn to carry out my partial knee replacement. The procedure, which I had in February, was a success and my recovery has been excellent. I certainly made the right choice in Mr Flynn. He is very professional, has a friendly approach and if you are having to consider any similar treatment, I would highly recommend Mr Flynn.

I was referred to the Saxon Clinic by my physiotherapist following issues with my right knee for a couple of years. My physio suggested if I could request a session with Mr Julian Flynn this would get me on the right path. I was fortunate in that Mr Flynn was able to see me within a couple of weeks. Following scans and x-rays he soon diagnosed the issue. He spelt out my options and in the end knee replacement was the advice. The whole experience was as smooth and informative as I could ever imagine. The surgery and post surgery care was first class. The care and attention Mr Flynn and the team at the Saxon Clinic afforded me will be something I will be forever grateful for. Highly recommended.

I recently had to have complex knee replacement surgery with Mr Flynn. My first meeting with him gave me confidence to go ahead with it. Mr Flynn was very confident/ positive he would be able to carry out this type of operation. I felt quite relaxed and confident after this meeting with Mr Flynn which he had installed in me. I found his “bedside manner”excellent and explanation of the whole procedure easy to understand. I’ve been seeing Mr Flynn for almost 19 years now ! He has performed many operations on my knees in legs due to a loss of cartilage due to playing too much sport ! My latest surgery was on the 2nd April and the results are fantastic ! I was walking 50% from day one, at 4 weeks I went back to work and after 6 weeks I am waiting without crutches What a fantastic Surgeon and man. He leads his field. I have total trust in him

This doctor has changed my life

I first saw Mr Flynn in September 2023 when I was referred by a doctor for a long existing knee condition. He had been recommended by an acquaintance as THE man to consult. I found him to be courteous, sympathetic and kind. He explained what he thought would be the best course of treatment and explained all the pros and cons very clearly. In December 2023 I had an appointment for a total knee replacement. On the morning of the surgery Mr Flynn visited me and made sure I was happy to go ahead with the procedure. Afterwards he visited to make sure I was ok and he also visited twice more over the course of my stay. He recommended use of a continuous motion therapy contraption which I feel contributed hugely to the success of my recovery. It gave me the confidence to move around as I knew I could bend my knee without an adverse reaction. Three weeks post op, I was walking around without aids. The pain I had suffered from for over 40 years had gone. When I saw Mr Flynn at 6 weeks post op, he was very attentive and pleased with my progress, which, I have to say, was down to his skill and expertise. If at some point in the future I need surgery on my other knee, I hope that I will be able to call on Mr Flynn again. I have no reservations in recommending him to others.

I had my post op appointment with Mr Julian Flynn today firstly i would like to say Mr Flynn got the amount of weeks it had been since my op right and he was to polite to tell me i had got it wrong what a nice man sorry for that Mr Flynn. I had a full knee replacement done by Mr Flynn and his team.The operation was a complete success i could not be happier with the results .Mr Flynn explained everything to me he was always friendly polite and reassuring and i would certainly recommend him to anyone he is a fantastic surgeon .

Mr Flynn has carried out Oxford partial knee replacements on both legs, one 3 years ago and the other very recently. I have been delighted with the outcome of both surgeries. He has a wonderful manner and is extremely skilled in his work and aftercare. His post op recovery strategy using continuous motion therapy seems especially effective. He followed immediately after the op and the following day before discharge.

Mr Julian Flynn recently performed a Total Right Knee Replacement at the beginning of Jan 22. Prior to the operation Mr Flynn took the time to explain fully what the operation entailed and the process this would take to ensure i had good outcome. He instilled me with confidence with his knowledge and care and put my mind at ease. I had the operation done at The Saxon Clinic Milton Keynes. Mr Flynn spoke with me on the morning of the operation along with other health care professionals to ensure i was fully prepared to proceed. I had no concerns or hesitation about the operation as i could see i was in very safe hands. After the procedure Mr Flynn came to see how i was doing along with a Physio. I was allowed to go home the next day with the aid of 2 crutches, pain control and a cryo/cuff to help with swelling, which it certainly did. Three weeks later and i am proceeding well. Only using 1 crutch, painkillers only at night and the wound fully healed. I am extremally grateful to be almost pain free when walking after several years of constant pain. I would strongly recommend Mr Flynn, he is an excellent surgeon and i will be more than happy to return for him to operate on my Left Knee in due course.

Mr Julian Flynn carried out a partial knee replacement on my left leg on 18/12/2020. From the first consultation I had every confidence in him. He explained everything clearly and patiently and came across as experienced, knowledgeable and very competent. I did not have to wait long for the operation and it went very smoothly. Mr Flynn cared for me very well. He is very kind and was near to hand throughout my weekend stay at The Saxon Clinic in Milton Keynes. It was obvious to me that all the staff held him in high regard. The anaesthetist told me he was a very gentle surgeon which was reassuring. During my 2 night stay in hospital my left leg was in a contraption that automatically bent and straightened my leg continuously and any pain was really well controlled. I believe this had a very good impact on my recovery. I was on double crutches for less than a month and my knee has made a remarkable recovery. The swelling quickly subsided and I stopped all daytime painkillers within 2 weeks and just took one at bedtime for another 2 weeks. I was allowed 6 physiotherapy visits in my package but I only needed 2. I’m now back walking my dog for an hour every day and gardening for several hours at a time. I am extremely grateful to Mr Flynn. He is an excellent surgeon with excellent patient care and I have recovered well and quickly. I have no hesitation in recommending him and if my right knee ever needs replacing I will go straight back to him.
