Dr Manjaly was recommended to me by an audiologist after a hearing test confirmed that my otosclerosis in my left ear had worsened.  I met with Dr Manjaly in November 2024 at One Welbeck, London. He took the time to listen and understand what my experience had been to date. He explained carefully to me the options available including surgery, hearing aids and coachlear implant as well as the pros and cons of each one. He undertook a more thorough hearing test and arranged an MRI scan which happened on my initial visit. As a follow-up, Dr Manjaly sent me information about the surgery which explained the procedure, benefits and risks and also encouraged me to do my own research. His social media page on Instagram was very helpful. After two further appointments I made a decision to have the surgery which is called a stapedectomy. The surgery was arranged for February 2025 at One Welbeck, London and was simple to arrange. In advance of the surgery I was sent detailed information about the procedure and the risks and filled in a medical questionnaire. I also had a Zoom call with Dr Manjaly a few days before the surgery in case I had any further queries or questions relating to post-op recovery. The level of care on the day of the surgery was of the highest quality. In advance of my procedure, I was seen by Dr Manjaly, the anaesthesiologist and two other medical staff. I was escorted to the operation theatre where the surgery was completed within 45 mins and I woke up in my recovery room. Dr Manjaly and other medical staff checked-in with me to make sure I was okay and assured me that the operation went well. I even got to keep the bone that was removed! They also advised me of post-op recovery. In the first two weeks after the operation my hearing in my left ear was limited, however this was due to some packing being placed in my left ear. Two weeks after the operation I had an appointment with Dr Manjaly who removed the packing. Once this was removed I instantly felt a significant improvement in my hearing. Everything felt louder and I could hear background noise which I could not before. Once home, I even had to turn down the TV volume by almost 50%!  One month later I met with Dr Manjaly who undertook a hearing test which confirmed the hearing in my left ear had improved significantly compared to the pre-op test. At the meeting we also agreed that we would commence planning an operation for my right ear for later in 2025. I am very happy that I chose the surgery and grateful that the audiologist just happened to attend Dr Manjaly's lecture and recommended him. Thank you Dr Joe!
