I had an arthroscopy on my meniscus injury by another consultant. This only helped in the short term and I was eventually given the impression that no more could be done. I was then given a knee brace and sent on my way. I'm in my forties, and whilst no spring chicken I found it extremely hard to think I would have to suffer with my injury going forward. After a year or so of hobbling around I decided to get a second opinion. I went to Jon to see if there was indeed nothing that could be done. He advised me that it should be repairable, which I was never advised by the previous consultant. I'm nearly a year down the line of going under the knife as it were with Jon and I couldn't be happier. I don't want to tempt fate but I'm pain-free, which I thought I never would be again. I'm just thankful I chose to get a second opinion and it was Jon I decided to see, I just wish I'd gone sooner.

Mr Borrill was excellent with my 14yr old son with regards his football injury which needed surgery to his damaged meniscus. He explained everything well to my son and myself and put us both at ease. The pre, during and post surgery phases all went well with excellent physio provided. My son was back in full training and playing within 4 months of the surgery. We are all really pleased with the treatment and care provided by Mr Borrill and all involved. Highly recommended.

Mr Borrill was most supportive and encouraging throughout - attentive pre and post op, and gave me full confidence that I would get my mobility and quality of life back. After having 'soldiered on' in extreme pain and discomfort in hips and knees for more than18 months, trying physio, injections, and painkillers, I was referred to Mr Borrill who immediately identified the source as one hip, and recommended replacement (carried out promptly at Spire Hospital, Manchester). 11 months later I have been discharged and am greatly relieved to have regained strength in my legs, and to be virtually pain free. I have resumed working, walking, swimming, etc. When the time comes for the other hip, I will request referral to Mr Borrill again. Recovery began with the highly skilled surgery, and depends on committing to the follow up physio and hydrotherapy to make the most of it.

I first came to Mr Borrill around 8 years ago complaining of a stiff and painful left knee. This was diagnosed as a torn meniscus and I underwent surgery to correct this which was very successful, however over time due to an increase in pain and mobility I had to go back and see him. Mr Borrill was fantastic, we discussed all options available to me and one of these was surgery and a knee replacement. Before we decided on this other treatments were attempted including Cortisone injection and a physiotherapy program. Although it alleviated the pain for a while my knee continued to be problematic and was stopping me from enjoying a full and active life. Once the decision was made to undergo a knee replacement Mr Borrill was wonderful explaining the procedure possible outcome and future prognosis. Throughout I had utmost confidence in Mr Borrill and the outcome and went ahead with the operation in October. Post op my recovery has been tremendous, to say I am pleased with the result is an understatement. The pain I had been experiencing has totally disappeared and my mobility is good and improving daily. I would have no hesitation in choosing Mr Borrill in the future if further surgery was necessary and cannot speak more highly of him or thank him for all he has done for me since I walked into his clinic 8 years ago, and can recommend him to anyone looking for help with their joint problems.

Jonathan Borrill is an amazing consultant/Surgeon. He was the best choice for me after he did my first total knee replacement Sept 2019 on my left knee which was a fabulous success, I had no hesitation in choosing him to do my right knee in March 2020, 6 months later. I can't thank him enough for the new lease of life he has given me From hardly being able to walk because of the pain I put up with the past 40yrs, to joining a local walking group where I can now achieve walking up to nearly 3 miles at a time and getting stronger and stronger and having no pain whatsoever. I can walk up & down steps and hills without struggling and pain. Jonathan has been there for me every step of my journey, the knowledge, consideration and courtesy came freely, never once judging me for being a big lady. even in his reports. His advice right from the start will always stay with me, that he can do the easy part the hardest part comes from you after the operation with the work you have to put in, with continuing to do the knee exercises to make the operation a success and don't give up because you find it hard. And I totally agree with him, whats the point in putting yourself through a big operation if your not going to help yourself. I am ecstatic that I am achieving a healthier lifestyle through being pain free. and its all thanks to Jonathan..
