I was referred to Mr Bernstein to investigate what turned out to be a large cyst on my thyroid which was causing compression symptoms. Thankfully biopsies and aspirated fluid did not show any cancerous or precancerous cells, but nonetheless, due to the discomfort and symptoms I was experiencing, I opted to have a hemi-thyroidectomy. The operation was conducted by Mr Bernstein, whose nimble work has left me with just a 4cm scar, which has healed extremely cleanly and well. Mr Bernstein is a very personable, respectful and caring doctor, which combined with his considerable expertise, experience and skill served to inspire my full confidence in him. He took the time to listen and answer all my questions, providing me with an appropriate level of information to keep me fully informed at every step of my treatment under his care. I would recommend him to anyone looking for such attributes in their doctor.

After my diagnosis of thyroid cancer, Mr Bernstein carried out my total thyroidectomy at the Royal Marsden. The care he has provided throughout my experience has been second to none - he is incredibly diligent and thorough. It's evident he cares very much about each patient, and providing them the very best care he possibly can. And he will take as much time as needed in an appointment to answer any questions you have; he even called me late one evening to give me some results. With his care and the rest of the team at the Royal Marsden I was given the 'all clear' from thyroid cancer 8 months later. I wholeheartedly recommend him.

I was referred to Mr Bernstein by a RMH doctor after a nodule in my neck was identified as suspicious for cancer follwing on from an incidental finding during a PET scan. He is very polite, very knowledgeable, and took time to answer the many questions I had. Even though I'd had several recent ultrasounds, Mr Bernstein carried out his own ultrasound to familiarize himself with my thyroid and the location of the suspicious nodule. During the subsequent surgery, he identified the vocal cord nerves and parathyroid glands to minimise the risk of damaging them. A couple of hours after my operation, Mr Bernstein came to see me to let me know that my hemithyroidectomy had gone very well with no complications and to answer any questions I had. I am pleased to say that I had virtually no postoperative pain and the neat 4 cm incision is healing very nicely. I feel confident I am in good hands with Mr Bernstein and his team and would recommend him to my family and friends.
