Mr Loy made me feel really at ease from the moment I met him, he seemed caring & listened to what I had to say. He explained exactly what would be involved on my journey before I had surgery & what would be happening during surgery. I knew it would be about 18mths until I had surgery, with all sorts of tests that needed to be done to make sure I was ok first, & all this time, the whole team were really great. The day of my surgery came, it all went well, saw Mr Loy the next morning, he explained that everything went to plan. Saw him again a few weeks later for a check up, feeling brilliant, can't thank him enough for what he's done for me, would recommend him to anyone. Good luck in your new job x

I started my Bariatric surgery just over a year ago under Mr Loy and I have to say that he is the most professional, caring and funny consultant I have ever met, what I like about him is his passion for bariatric surgery and the joy he seems to get by seeing his patients wellbeing and life change for the better, he explains every part of the journey that us patients will go through in a way that us non medical people can understand. The day of surgery I was nervous but following a funny chat with him before I went to theatre put me totally at ease and surgery went really well, and today I had my first consultation with him and the wonderful bariatric team since my surgery in April and the look on his and the other members of the teams faces said it all

I cannot speak highly enough of mr Loy. I had an appt with him last September to discuss bariatric surgery. I was still 50/50 on that day as to whether I was going to go through with an operation as I was honestly petrified. Mr Loy smiled, spoke to me calmly and totally reassured me that a gastric bypass was right for me. He was sympathetic, empathetic and looked at me during the whole conversation. On the day of surgery he came to see me beforehand and chatted and further reassured me that I would be fine.....and I was! Post op he visited with his jovial cheerful attitude and fully explained everything to me. He is a wonderful surgeon and a wonderful person. Anyone referred under his care should consider themselves very lucky.

I have recently had a gastric bypass done by this fabulous surgeon. Mr Loy puts you at ease from your first consultation. He is compassionate to his overweight patients; realising that not all people are equip with the willpower to lose their excess weight let alone keep it off long term. His experience and knowledge allays any fears that you may have, about the surgery. My care from him and his super bariatric team was exemplary! My health has dramatically improved in the six weeks post surgery after losing 20lbs since surgery and 2 1/2 stone in total since my liver shrinkage diet. Bad press for this surgery might cause fewer of these operations in the future, which would be devastating to overweight people, who see this operation as a lifeline. I myself was heading fast towards disability as my mobility was being seriously impacted by my weight. Since my operation, I've been able to walk a hundred times further than before! I was also pre-diabetic and the operation will prevent me from becoming diabetic. The cost of surgery is a drop in the ocean to what i could have potentially cost the NHS. I therefore urge PCTs to continue to fund bariatric surgery and even increase funding and simplify the process. These surgeries are transforming lives.
