Mr John De Souza Is a very task orientated surgeon of great skill and articulacy As a surgeon should be. I found his straightforward manner rather refreshing and left me with a very clear picture of my personal situation. When things are their darkest it's no good someone waving a matchstick around. I can understand a few people's comments as my partner was in tears after the first consultation. However if you need a surgeon who gets the job done he's your man. If it's a dinner party chose one of the attractive duty doctors or nurses partners permitting. Good luck to all my fellow patients.

There is not enough words in this world to say about Mr Desouza, he is one amazing doctor and if it wasn’t for him I wouldn’t be here today. Straight talking but understands his patients worry’s and stress and does the best he can. He is a total asset to the NHS. I didn’t want to be in the situation I was in but when I went under the care of Mr Desouza I knew I would be looked after.

First met this consultant in 2015 after a serious UTI. Whilst the NHS may have capacity limitations his attitude to a 53 year old and the extended need for a catheter were not in keeping with reasonable expectations. Ct and ultrasound scans took forever and after 7 weeks I gave up on him and the NHS and went private at Spire Edinburgh. Result. Within 1 week all scans completed, consultant review completed, clean bill of health and a nurse who taught me to self catheterise so that the permanent one could be removed. I have now been able to ditch the catheters all together. However due to the extended hospital catheterisation my bladder has become lazy. Not a good experience from John de Souza who at one point advised that I may need a permanent catheter for life. My advise.....make sure you clearly communicate what you want and get it!!

Mr. De Souza operated on me on the 15th. Feb. 2019, he carried out my procedure at Monklanks Hospital it turned out to be a 17 hour operation due to the cancer being more invasive than first thought. I can’t thank him and his team and the nurses and staff both in intensive care & ward 6 enough I am sure they have saved my life. I know I will have to undergo further treatment but I am positive it will be with the same high standard and care I have received to date.

What this man doesnt know about his profession isn't worth knowing. Straight to the point, no hidden agendas and a very good understanding of all his patients. I had bladder cancer and was operated on by De Souza Oct 2013. I still see him every year and he is always still very interested in my care. I owe my life now to this guy.....NHS please look after him and his very talented and compationate team. D. Burns

Mr De Souza carried out my husbands (Charles Mclaughlan) prostocotomy in March this year. The surgery was conducted for several hrs ,Mr de Souza made sure that I was updated throughout the day by one of the theatre staff , I was very grateful for this . My Husbands cancer was aggressive with a Gleason score of 9. and a PSA of over 25 I'm delighted to say this is now undetectable. My husband will begin his radiotherapy very soon . We both feel very blessed to have had such a dedicated, caring , understanding and marvellous surgeon in Mr De Souza at Monklands hospital . We can't thank or praise him and his team enough Thank you very much Ellen &Charles Mclaughlan
