Very knowledgeable and understanding of my needs. Treated in a reasonable time frame and two follow up appointments after my hip operation. Couldn’t have wished for a better surgeon. Would highly recommend

Mr Chandrasenan was fantastic. He was really friendly, professional and addressed all my concerns. He is an expert in his field and has a wonderful bedside manner. Mr Chandrasenan is always smiling and making his patients feel comfortable and confident in his care. The day of the surgery went well and he checked in with me a few hours following to see how I was doing. I've had a couple of appointments since and the aftercare has been great. I would highly recommend Mr Chandrasenan and his team.

Mr Chandrasenan was exemplary. His duty of care is second to none. Everything was fully explained so I knew exactly what to expect. He and his team take great pride In pre and post operative patient care. This added to Mr Chandrasenan's skill shows true dedication and a passion for his role. After 30 years of pain, my only regret is not seeking his expertise sooner. I cannot put into words how much he has changed my life already and the future now looks so much brighter. I have no hesitation in recommending Mr Chandrasenan to anyone needing surgery. Thank you will never be enough.

Since I first met Mr Chandrasenan in 2017, I have received exemplary, impeccable care from him and all his co-workers at Chesterfield Royal Hospital. It is clear to even a patient with zero clinical knowledge that his technical expertise and his skills with people are exceptional. (I quote another doctor in his team who said, when I expressed an anxiety about how ill I was, ‘If you’re one of his patients, you will be very well looked after.’ And it is clear from the way his co-workers at all levels speak of him, and observed interactions between them, that his manner is pleasingly un-hierarchical.) At all times I have been listened to with patience and respect, and felt fully consulted about the care I was to receive and expected outcomes. At no time did I feel that expected outcomes were lowered because I am an older patient. All my questions were answered as fully as I could hope. At least twice Mr Chandrasenan asked me what I would like him to do, including fixing a convenient date for elective surgery. I had an easy ride with a first hip replacement, the second, recent one, not so. Given that I was so unlucky, and whilst I wish I hadn’t needed so much care, my experience was 100% positive in outpatients and on Hasland ward. Only once in about ten outpatient appointments did I wait more than ten minutes. I twice attended without a prior appointment and was promptly seen. On a day when Mr Chandresenan was not there, I saw another consultant within fifteen minutes. The second time I walked in with no prior contact and Mr Chandrasenan left a ward round to see me. I am now well and my positive experience, both technically and in the kindness of all staff, has left me even more motivated to recover full fitness as soon as possible. I am mindful of the cost and quantity of ressources I used. Whilst I hope to never need hospital treatment again, I would travel to be cared for by the same team. I know how much pressure NHS staff are under, yet I could not have had better care in any private facility. I have friends who live in other areas who have spent large sums of their savings because they could not be offered such good NHS care. I have nothing but praise and thanks for CRHT and its staff what ever their roles.
