The initial consultation was detailed and reassuring. The stay at the hospital was first rate. The surgery went very well, and recovery was quick. Mr Deguara is evidently a very focused professional from his demeanour, which is exactly what you want to see when somebody is about to cut something out of you!

I have had a gall bladder removal surgery by laparoscopy by Mr Deguara in New Victoria Hospital in February 2019. I had a history of symptomatic gall stones for over a year but due to personal circumstances was hoping that I can go through with the conservative approach and avoid an operation. Unfortunately, it was a problem that would not go away and after several consultations and diagnostic tests (and another admission to A&E) I decided to take a plunge. It was my first ever major operation and I appreciate very much the patience that Mr Deguara showed in explaining all about what to expect, what can go wrong and why it is important to make this decision. I felt that I can ask any question, however trivial it might sound and he would calmly answer, even if it felt that I only needed reassurance. He is very attentive and I really liked that he dictated the summary of the consultation straight after so I could hear that he recorded all my symptoms and concerns to the letter. I decided to go as a private patient to have more control over the time scale of the operation and the operating surgeon - I had total trust in Mr Deguara. Operation went well and care during my overnight stay in New Victoria Hospital was amazing. I do not hesitate in recommending Mr Deguara and, although do hope that I would not need any more operations, I would not hesitate to consult him again if the need arises.

After many years of pain I consulted Mr Jean Deguara in Kingston who was able after many tests including scans, and a barium meal, to diagnose the reason for all my pain and discomfort and inability to swallow food as being an extremely large hiatus hernia which was seriously affecting my life. Mr Deguara spent a great deal of time explaining to me that not only did I need surgery, but that it would be a major operation, lasting around 4.5 hours and all that it entailed, answered all my questions clearly and concisely so that there was nothing I did not understand after my consultation. It was arranged that I should attend Kingston Hospital at the earliest date for the operation, which was in about 4 weeks time and I was admitted on the 25th January 2019 The Operation took place as arranged and was completely successful, and I was taken to Isabella Ward for my recovery where I was very well looked after until my discharge 3 days later. Since then and the following 6 weeks I have continued my recovery at home I am now on week 8 and would like to thank everyone in the team, doctors and nurses alike who participated in my operation , especially Mr Deguara for his splendid care and attention.

I found Mr Deguara to be extremely helpful, patient and understanding. I came back for my follow up consultation , with lots of questions . Mr Deguara took the time to explain everything very carefully. Indeed, I found him to be very considerate through the whole experience, from my initial consultation, explaining what my operation would entail, to meeting with him before and after my operation, to my last meeting with him ..

Mr Deguara is very professional, I was well informed about my diagnosis and procedures (Gallbladder and Hernia), I can highly recommend Mr Deguara. After discussions with Mr Deguara I decided on key hole surgery and I am very pleased with the result. The accommodation and staff at the BMI Wing at Kingston Hospital were excellent on both occasions 4 months apart, I can highly recommend this hospital. The pre and post operation care is also very good.
