I have recently had my second Total Ankle Replacement under the care of Mr Jason Eyre, the first one, my left was 5 years ago, I was 75 at the time. I had excellent care from the whole team, my recovery was straightforward and I was soon back to travelling and fully enjoying life. I was shocked that after the surgery I had very little or NO pain, even from the outset. I had my Right Total Ankle Replacement 13 weeks ago, once again wonderful treatment from the whole team, I am 90% back to my normal, getting about, painfree, good mobility and looking forward to travelling again. On both occasions I was very much involved in the planning of my surgery, Mr Eyre was always happy to discuss the situation with me and my wife, even seeing me in Out patients when I had more questions to ask. He was like a friend, cheerful but always very Professional. I am very happy to write this review in the hope it will give confidence to other patients who could benefit from this type of surgery, because not many people have heard of it or know someone who has had it done. I couldn't recommend it or my surgeon Mr Jason Eyre. My only comment on improving the service would be to try and give patients a timeframe for their surgery, especially important at my age, 6 months, 9 months even 12 months or more would give patients the opportunity to live and plan their lives as best they can. I realise that waiting lists are what they are but some idea of timeframe would be so very very helpful.
