Mr Stanek's manner may be regarded as brusque by some, but I believe its just a cultural issue. In my opinion he is a competent and responsible surgeon. He did what he could to repair a previous surgery that was botched by another notorious London surgeon. I appreciated his candour in respect of how the notorious "Baz the Butcher" is regarded by his industry peers. I've always found Mr Stanek's staff to be highly professional and attentive.

I went to Mr Stanek for a small earlobe procedure under local anaesthetic. The consultation was on Zoom and it all seemed straightforward. He drew a vary basic pencil sketch of the section he would remove from each earlobe and asked me to send photographs of what I was hoping for. When I went for the procedure, his nurse and receptionist were lovely and couldn't have been more professional and at pains to put me at my ease. Mr Stanek sat down before we began and showed me one of the pictures I had emailed, saying it wasn't possible to achieve this look because the earlobes in the picture were attached (as opposed to detached). I said I would look for some more pictures on my phone as we sat there and he said there was no point and from that point on, basically told me what I would get in a way that suggested I had no further say. Because he is a surgeon of many years experience and his manner is - how to put this - quite to the point and brusque, I felt I should do as I was told. The procedure was carried out and I went away for a week, before returning to have the stitches out. At this point, everything changed. I said to the nurse who was removing the stitches that I'd like to talk to Mr Stanek if he was available because I hadn't got what I'd asked for. I had a feeling at the time that he hadn't removed enough and I could see that was the case. I had made it clear I wanted to avoid doing the procedure more than once but by that point I sensed I wasn't being listened to. I heard the nurse telling him, in his office nextdoor, "She's not happy" which instantly seemed to enrage him. As I was lying on a couch (for the stitch remova) he stormed into the room, saying I had no right to complain now and what would I prefer, a surgeon who took too much or one that was "cautious". By this point, I was feeling very shaky and intimidated. He was literally standing over me shouting at me. He stormed back out saying over his shoulder that, fine, he'd do the procedure again and then slammed the door. The nurse immediately looked worried and told me the door had slammed because the window was open. He slammed it. She spent the rest of the time removing my stitches while I cried. I got out of there as quickly as I could. It was when I had calmed down a few days later, I emailed Mr Stanek, copying in his nurse, saying I had wished he'd handled the news that I wasn't satisfied with the procedure without raising his voice. His email reply was astonishing. He did not copy in his nurse, told me that the raised voices were a figment of my imagination and that his nurse would back him up on that. I think that was worse than everything else I experienced at his clinic. I have since replied saying I didn't feel in any way comfortable returning to his practice and I had no faith at all that I would be listened to or treated fairly. I have since paid the money again for a reputable surgeon to perform the surgery I asked for in the first place. I would rather be out of pocket that have to go through an experience like that again. To find my lovely new surgeon, I did more homework this time and went by personal recommendation. I strongly suggest you don't assume Mr Stanek's television appearances make him your first choice for a procedure. Temperamentally, at least, there are far calmer individuals who are willing to listen and actually give their patients what they're looking for.

My comment relates to a minor procedure on my nose, carried out by Mr Stanek to a passable, if not praise-worthy, standard some 20 years ago. The reason I am writing now is that the previous comment about his reluctance to take responsibility chimes exactly with my experience. I came across him as a recommendation in a snobby magazine and now wish that I had been rather more careful in doing my research. When I asked him during the initial consultation whether he belonged to all the recommended professional bodies, he dismissed one of them as a "club for little boys." His manner was somewhat impatient, too. Still he DID have that recommendation... The operation was to reduce a small, asymmetrical bulge of cartilage at the tip of one side of my nose and was done as an "open tip" procedure. My nose was, as to be expected, very swollen afterwards but the swelling took a long time, a good year, to subside entirely. As it did so, it became clear that the bulge of cartilage was still there and, if anything, the end of my nose looked somewhat less defined than before. Mr Stanek had already failed to emerge from his office when I went back for the standard post-op check until I insisted that I see him, not just a nurse. When I returned six months later and told him that the bump seemed to be re-emerging, he told me that "I can't have patients telling me what's what." It was pretty unpleasant to be honest. His attitude was irritable, dismissive and over-bearing. His only suggestion was to inject a filler into my nose to even things out. I said no. I am not claiming that Mr Stanek ruined my life - or my nose. It wasn't great to begin with and - after spending several thousand pounds on it - still isn't. But my encounters with him were needlessly tense and unsympathetic and his arrogance left me with a lasting bias against cosmetic surgeons. Or, at least, against him.

Please ladies don’t be fooled by his past work on the television.. Avoid surgery as he will not be held responsible for his mistakes. I had breast augmentation with Mr stanek and after years of claiming of pain and burning sensations I was dismissed some 8yrs later the pip story broke out on the news and women were complaining of the same symptoms as I had. I contacted the team to find out I in fact had been fitted with these I’ll faulty implants. I paid nearly 6k for my first surgery so expected to have the best products used not cheap tyre filler. I was brought back to replace my implants at a further cost of nearly 4K. Straight away I noticed a air pocket that would pop in and out and is noticeable I can feel it like a button being pushed. Dr stanek assured me this was nothing but the implant settling. It’s been four years and I was told to either find the money for corrective surgery minus his fee but you wouldn’t expect to pay out when the issue was there from day of the surgery. Disappointed and left to find the money to correct his work, four years on still suffering. Not everyone is in a financial situation to magic money out of the air. You pay expensive first time thinking you will get the best not right in these circumstances unfortunately.
