We had the best care from James. He was caring and attentive from start to finish as well as professional and honest. My husband and I went through 12 fresh cycles (the last 9 with the Lister), had two miscarriages and were finally successful on our 12th cycle. James was just amazing throughout being fully empathetic and patient with someone as stubborn as me!! When I took my daughter into the Lister to meet James, his joy was clear to see. I never once felt like I was a burden or like I was a Science project, I just felt valued and in great hands. Although I won’t lie, the process was tough!! Nearly 6 years on from the birth of our daughter we feel nothing but gratitude.

I had some egg freezing done at Lister Fertility Clinic. Dr. Nicopoullos was involved at most stages of the process. My first conversation with him involved a quick chat with him keeping his head down and no eye contact, and it got worse from there. He does not call you by your name and speaks in a constant monotone stream making it hard to interject. Interactions with him are somewhat impersonal and not exactly what one would expect from a gynecologist. At every encounter he was hurried and at one stage kept me waiting for 3 hours to see him when I went for a scan; I could not wait any longer so I received a phone call later in the day only to be spoken to in a brusque manner. You get the impression he has more important things to do and doesn't have enough time to deal with any concerns. I was told to "go elsewhere" if I didn't like what he was saying to me. Very unusual approach to patients. I felt like I was on a conveyer belt throughout the whole process. No bespoke treatment plan, and the medication was not adapted to suit my scan or blood results. My main doctor went on holiday halfway through treatment. Nurses are on the whole inexperienced and you will be passed to a consultant you may have never seen before or whoever happens to be on duty that day if you want to speak to someone other than the nurse you see after a scan who has no familiarity with your medical file or history. But the overall experience was made much much worse by Dr Nicopoullos and on speaking to other women in the waiting room they had similar negative experiences. I would not go back to the Lister Clinic for this reason alone but also because the prices at the Lister are substantially higher than other fertility clinics in London and do not represent value for money in my opinion.

I have been a private patient at the Lister Fertility clinic for 5 years and have completed 5 cycles of IVF (4 with my own eggs and one with donor eggs). I have always found Dr Nicopoullos to be genuine, professional, and friendly. He has never been anything but honest with me about my chances of success (my 5 cycles resulted in one miscarriage and one healthy son), and even diplomatically suggested I should assess whether I should keep trying after my donor egg cycle failed earlier this year. I have had issues with the Lister and its production line approach to IVF I won't deny (it is a massive money making machine where nothing is free and the pharmacy charges huge mark ups on the drugs you need) but that isn't Dr Nicopoullos' fault. I have recommended him to friends who needed IVF treatment and they have all raved about him too.

I attended the Lister last wk and met with our consultant James Nicopoullos, I can only comment so far on my experience so far, I was met by a positive, friendly, helpful doctor, he answered all our questions and at the moment I feel very positive and excited about our journey ahead of us. He wasn't at all like a salesman, he covered every bit of the process, the way he explains things and details it is clear and direct, it was quick and to the point then he sat and listened to all I asked. We start IVF in feb and I can only say good things at this point, everyone at the Lister has so far been lovely, they helped us with ways to save money too with tips too so we have a good start, there is a wait at the moment for us till feb due to our reasons but his advised us we can save money by going to our GP to get some tests done on NHS which is great also to buy our drugs from other sources to save money too.

Dr Nicopoullos wasn't my consultant but had the unpleasant experience to exchange a few emails. The most rude Doctor I ever met, very unprofessional and prepared to lie to cover him and the clinic. Doesn't call patients by name.. not sure he knows who is talking to.. in addition the clinic he works for is a complete mess.
