Mr Kirkby-Bott was excellent at explaining the journey I would go on and exactly what happened at each stage. He listened to my concerns and gave me appropriate reassurance.
All the staff were helpful and again acted very professional. I particularly thought the pre-op nurse was excellent.

MR Kirkby-Bott was excellent throughout, from the first consultaion to the surgery, post care, I could not fault him or the team he has assembled.
Having a large Inguinal hernia that had been there for over 10 years he quickly put me at ease that its fixable and that all would be ok.
Great advice for recovery and always made you feel he was avaliable even post surgery, could not ask for anything else.

From my initial consultation, through inguinal repair surgery and post surgery consultation, Mr Kirkby-Bott impressed as being highly knowledgeable and experienced. I had a small lipoma removed. Post the pre and post procedure advice was extremely clear. Dr Kirkby - Bott did a great job of the operation and the end result is a very neat scar. Due to the size of the lipoma I was recommended sedation and experienced no discomfort intra operatively.

Thyroid and Parathyroid Surgery
I specialise in thyroid and parathyroid conditions, having trained as an endocrine surgeon at Hammersmith Hospital in London and as an International Endocrine Fellow at CHRU in Lille, France.
I have performed over 1,000 thyroid and parathyroid excisions, and I aim to improve surgical results by utilising continuous nerve monitoring and intra-operative PTH testing during surgery.
Hernia Surgery
I am currently the lead surgeon at Hernia Clinic Hampshire and have completed more than 2,000 hernia repairs. I specialise in open hernia repairs under local anaesthesia and sedation, a technique that is gentler on the body, promotes quicker recovery, and can be suitable for patients of varying ages or health conditions. I am also experienced in laparoscopic hernia surgery.

Gallbladder Surgery
With extensive experience, having performed over 750 urgent gallbladder surgeries, I specialise in gallbladder and gallstone removal using keyhole/laparoscopic surgery. I founded the trauma and acute surgery unit at UHS, which most frequently handled gallbladder cases.
Lipoma Surgery
Lipoma removal is often limited within the NHS, and I am happy to offer lipoma surgery to help those in need of treatment.
Commitment to Improving Care
I have been committed to improving patient care and outcomes throughout my career. I established and was Director of a clinical results program at UHS from 2018 to 2022 and founded the Wessex Endocrine Society to promote patient-focused education and training in surgical endocrinology across the region.
I am Director of the National Endocrine Audit Database at the British Association of Endocrine Surgeons, where I contribute to ongoing improvements in endocrine surgery. I am honoured to have received the Norman Tanner Medal for my work in parathyroid disease and to be one of the first UK surgeons to pass the FEBS (Endocrine) exam.
