Kind ,considerate and professional is how I would describe him. Explained the operation and my recovery after. I followed his recommendations re belt and exercises and all went well. I had him recommended to me by a friend and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend him myself.

I have been seeing Mr Kirkby-Bott for a period of around 3 years with a thyroid issue. Throughout this period he always took the time to explain what was happening and what to expect. More importantly he corrected my medication to what was required. I would definitely recommend him.

I had laparoscopic surgery under general anaesthetic for a bilateral inguinal hernia. I had been given unhelpful advice by my NHS GP and was given the impression that I would just have to live with the hernia until it got a lot worse. I decided to look into having the hernia fixed privately. I am very glad I did - I was reassured that surgery was appropriate and it could be arranged within weeks, with flexibility to fit around my existing commitments. Mr Kirkby-Bott was very helpful throughout - there was lots of written information provided and his approach was matter-of-fact and positive. On the day of the surgery I was looked after very well. I arrived at the hospital at midday and was able to leave at 9.00 pm. There was lots of information to help with my recovery, including exercise videos which helped a lot with getting back to normal activity levels. I would highly recommend Mr Kirkby-Bott.

If like me you suspect that you have a hernia but are putting off having it dealt with then see this surgeon. He specialises in hernia repairs and he is very undramatic and straightforward about how he will fix your hernia. I was in surgery within two weeks of an appointment with my GP. Six weeks later I have a flat tummy and a slight scar, which is reducing every day. Before I had a bulge which I tried to ignore, and which had started to interfere with my ability to get on with life. The other point of note is that the anaesthetist who works with this surgeon is astonishingly good, I was unaware of the surgery taking place, but was conscious within minutes at the end. No after effects at all. The treatment includes advice on elasticated support pants (I was not convinced but correctly sized the pants are both supportive and comfortable to wear) and exercise videos which are professionally put together and give you a stepladder back to full mobility.
