I've had bunions and worn orthotics to correct my gait for many years but the deformity in my left foot had progressed to the point that I had to stop a walking holiday last September. Mr. Carmichael corrected the misalignment and fused my mid-foot at the end of November.
From the start he put me at ease and although he was open about the possible risks, I knew that I was in the best possible hands for my surgery. Before discharge from hospital and during follow up appointments he has continued to keep me informed about progress and plans for the next 'steps'.
After 6 weeks in a cast I started weight-bearing in early January. Yesterday, 3 months post-op and with the sun shining, I took the dogs for a 6 mile walk and could easily have continued further.
I couldn't be more grateful for Mr. Carmichael's incredible skill or fantastic patient care.
