I was referred to Mr Chawla regarding a naevus on the white of my eye. Mr Chawla removed the naevus under general anaesthesia and carried out a graft of the conjunctiva. I felt no pain after the operation and the procedure has been a great success. I have nothing but admiration for Mr Chawla. His skill is beyond description, and I can’t recommend him enough.

As a diabetic I was terrified of getting eye surgery due to the enormous risk of infection and complication, however Mr Chawla attended to this with the greatest care and attention. He ensured that I was in the best shape possible before surgery by performing extensive tests and prescribing pressure reducing eye drops. Both surgeries to remove cataracts then went ahead, 2 weeks apart with no issues. He is a very kind and gentle man who listens to your worries and eases your concerns whilst being a truly professional and experienced doctor in his field. I would not hesitate to recommend him and his lovely team at the Spire in Brentwood.

I consulted wit Mr. Chewla over a worrying worsening of my eyesight. The initial assessment was efficient and pleasant. Both Mr. Chewla and his nurse Jenny have excellent interpersonal skills; calming and welcoming at a stressful time.. Both have strong empathy with their patients; careful and detailed explanation of the assessment process and the outcomes help immensely. I particularly liked Mr. Chewla's sense of humour! Subsequently I had laser surgery on one of my eyes by him at the Hartswood hospital, Brentwood.. I was terrified, but Mr Chewla and Jenny made it seem easy and quick. Although I do not underestimate the immense skill and experience of Mr Chewla in carrying out such a delicate procedure. The results were outstanding and my vision was fully returned to its original state. Mr Chewla then referred me to a colleague at Moorfields Eye hospital for further assessment. I can highly recommend Mr Chewla and Jenny, his nurse.

Mr Chawla and his nurse Jenny were absolutely brilliant from start to finish. Mr Chawla was very thorough in his consultations and after care and Jenny was so kind and caring. I had my Lens replacements in both eyes are Spire Hartswood hospital and can’t recommend them enough. 5 star service all round.
