Dr Pengas and his team have changed the quality of my life completely by replacing both knee joints. I had been struggling for some years, unable to walk without severe pain. Mentally, I am on top of the world and physically at 78 yrs of age I am able to cycle 15 or 20 miles per day and take walks with my wife again. Mr Pengas has treated me with kindness, sympathy and respect. His professionalism is beyond question. There is no-one more satisfied or grateful for this surgeon. Thank you to all concerned.

I don't know who the previous reviewer saw but I don't believe it could have been Mr Pengas. I am 75, have previously only had experience of doctors who were too busy or didn't care enough to listen, but Mr Pengas was totally different. I had severe arhtritis in both my knees and luckily Mr Pengas was suggested as someone who could help me. From my first visit to him, I found him a sympathetic listener, prepared to take the time to explain everything to me and answer all my questions. He quickly organised new xrays and following the receipt of them, gave me the options available to me. I felt I could trust him totally and I opted to have both knees replaced with the operations being as close together as possible I was in great pain and virtually immobile. He replaced both my knees last October and has done a superb job. Now 6 months on, I have regained my life. I am part of a walking group, riding a bike again, managing to enjoy walking all over our beautiful , but hilly, county. In all my dealings with Mr Pengas both before and after my operations, he has always been kindness itself; showing consideration and given me time to air and worries or concerns. I will always be grateful to him for his skill and the fact that he took the time to explain things and go with my wishes. So different than the doctor whom I first saw regarding my arthritis who told me it was just something I should put up with as I was getting old! I will be eternally grateful to Mr Pengas.

He didn’t listen to me at all and was going on the MRI scan I had last year and it has got 10 times worse since I had it and kept saying to me the same things over and over again and didn’t understand my point of view on why I needed the help as he was just trying to keep his reputation really good. He also didn’t even look at my medical notes once they just sat on the table next to him and asked me questions that he should know already if he read my medical notes before the appointment.

Mr Pengas and his team were simply brilliant. I had an op on my knee and it has been life changing in a very positive way. From start to finish everything was carefully explained and I was very well looked after throughout. Of course the outcome was the most important thing and let's just say, I expect to go skiing again once lockdown is over.
