Written by a patient at Spire Washington Hospital

I saw this consultant at the Spire Washington. This man should not be in a caring professional. At the consultation I was verbally abused by this doctor who was not prepared to listen to what I had to say and started shouting at me with my husband sitting there. My husband could not believe what was being said to me. This experience has left me not having much trust/confidence in Consultants at Sunderland Royal Hospital where this man is based. I am extremely upset in the way I have been treated and will be taking further action. This man stepped over my ligament damaged ankle to go to his office door to get the nurses to escort me and my husband off the premises. No patient should be treated in this way by a consultant who seemed to have no respect for me as a patient or empathy to my symptoms. He was not prepared to listen to what I had to say, how this problem has had an impact on my well being. He was totally disinterested. It was a complete waste of time seeing this man. Maybe is only concerned at seeing patients that pay for their treatment. If this man does not have compassion/empathy for his patients, then he is definitely in the wrong job. I would not be surprised if this man has spoken to other patients in the same way. He gives a bad name to decent consultants who only want to help their patients. T Hutchinson
