" 'Dydw i ddim yn gallu gweld mewn i'ch llygad dde i weld beth sy'n digwydd a 'dych chi ddim yn gallu gweld mas chwaith." ( I can't see inside your right eye to see what is happening and you can't see out either.)
These were the words spoken by my optician when examining my right eye - quite true I couldn't see the fingers of my hand at arm's length. She advised that I should visit Werndale and seek an appointment with Mr Huw Jenkins as soon as possible.
Werndale was contacted and I was fortunate to receive a consultation from Mr Jenkins. I found him a kind and considerate surgeon who patiently explained at length the severity of my condition and the procedure involved, which I found very reassuring. My cataract was described as being dense and I was forewarned that the implant would take some time to settle. True to his prediction, within a few days the mist which had obscured my vision began to recede and from having no vision whatsoever in my right eye within a fortnight I was able to see again - a miraculous outcome. Upon a follow up visit to my optician she confirmed that the vision in my right eye was 20 - 20.
The attention I received from Mr. Jenkins and his colleagues in the Opthalmology Department and also the aftercare was of the highest order. Should my healthy left eye show any signs of deterioration I will have no hesitation in seeking Mr. Jenkins and Werndale.
I recently had a detached retina which needed surgery to save my eyesight.
Mr Jenkins explained the procedure that he was going to carry out, on my eye, in a thoughtful and caring way. He was extremely patient and considerate of my nervousness; listening to and answering all my questions in a thoroughly professional and diligent manner. Although he was obviously very busy, I felt that my eyesight was just as important to him as it was to me.
I feel extremely fortunate to have been under Mr Jenkins' care. Also, very grateful to have such a fantastic NHS facilty on my doorstep.
Furthermore, all the staff that I had contact with before, during and after my surgery were truly some of the most caring people that I could wish to meet. You are all doing such amazing work and I thank you sincerely.
Mr Jenkins was kind considerate and extremely thorough in all aspects of my care after I endured a sudden Retinal Detachment earlier this year.he explained everything thoroughly and spent time to answer any questions had despite having extremely busy clinics.
I cannot thank him and his team enough also his secretary who is also extremely very efficient in the care they have provided for me and for restoring my sight .
We are a very country to have the NHS and to have surgeons like Mr Jenkins working in it.
