Mr Scott is an inspiration to us all and shows us what a proper doctor is. Having recently retired from the NHS and looking back on my career, Gregor as my senior registrar in the late 80's was the consultant everyone wanted to be. Highly competent, compassionate, charming and loved by all. A great teacher of gynaecology. One memorable occasion was a meeting at Charing Cross Hospital, when after 2 days 24/7 on call I quietly existed the lecture theater due to exhaustion in search of some sanity - Expecting a complete dressing down/warning/swift end to my career /god knows what , Gregor simply said (in his cut-glass Oxbridge accent) - " I say - did you skive off? Good man - what a boring meeting".Another occasion was when we went to see a 92 yr old on the general medical ward with suspected endometrial carcinoma. Someone else may well have investigated things further. Gregor simply sat beside her on the bed, chatted to her about her life for what seemed like hours and that's all she wanted. The best surgeon knows when not to operate. Doc, you're the best!
