I recently had bilateral cataract surgery under general anaesthetic. My experience from the initial consultation through to the follow-up consultation ten days after surgery was very positive. I was treated kindly, courteously, reassuringly and professionally by everyone with whom I came into contact - Mr Ratnarajan and his administrative staff Sally and Sarah, Dr Baldwin my anaesthetist, Nicky the ward nurse who looked after me, all the technicians and theatre staff. I cannot thank them all enough. My particular thanks must go to Mr Ratnarajan, whose skill and care have not only given me 20-20 vision but have also improved my general quality of life in ways I had not expected. I would have no hesitation him, his team and the McIndoe Centre. Indeed I have already started doing so.

Mr Ratnarajan and the Innovations Eye Unit were recommended to me by my optician once it became clear that the treatment I required ( a YAG Capsulotomy) would entail a wait of several months on the NHS.And what a blessing that turned out to be. From the moment I made the initial phone call, the service I received was second to none. I was treated with courtesy at all times- everyone ( and Mr Ratnarajan in particular) was extremely welcoming and friendly, supremely professional, explaining everything clearly and made me feel completely at ease. The treatment went very smoothly and the outcome is fantastic with clear eyesight restored in my right eye allowing me to drive and read again easily. I would have no hesitation in recommending Mr Ratnarajan to anyone.

I recently underwent Bilateral cataract surgery and insertion of lenses under the care of Mr Gok Ratnarajan at the McIndoe Centre. The Initial consultation was both friendly, reassuring and professional and within a few days I was offered an appointment for my procedure. From arrival to be taken into surgery I found all the staff to be personable and caring and any qualms I had were soon relieved. The procedure went very smoothly and painlessly with just the right amount of reassuring information offered by Mr Ratnarajan. Within less than an hour I was back in my room enjoying coffee and a sandwich. After being given a comprehensive recovery programme within a few days my eyesight now appears quite normal and I have 20/20 vision and just need ready readers for very small print as predicted. I certainly will have no hesitation recommending Mr Ratnarajan and the McIndoe Centre to my friends.

Made me feel at ease right from the start which was important as I was very nervous but needn’t have worried as the care I received was excellent. I was reassured throughout and would thoroughly recommend.

I feel as though my life has been gifted back to me. Reading again. Independent life. Travelling on public transport in the dark without being reliant on others. Typing emails. Seeing nature. The whole system works smoothly. From initial nervous phone call to the end of care. Immediately felt part of a family. Never had to repeat information. Looked after superbly by the administration, support team. Mr Ratnarajan has an extremely calm, reassuring voice and manner. The surgeon you meet on initial consultation will be the same person who performs the operation. From a patient’s point of view this continuity is invaluable. There is no feeling of being passed from pillar to post. You are looked after from beginning to end by everyone. Biggest thanks must go to the surgeon. My extreme gratitude.
