I met George for the first time when I attended Shepton Mallet Treatment Centre (SMTC) for a pre-treatment outpatient assessment. I was immediately confident that he is well informed and experienced dealing with my particular condition (Dupuytren's contracture). We discussed the proposed procedure, the alternatives, and the various risks involved and he answered my questions with authority. I had no hesitation in confirming my wish to proceed. The procedure was duly carried out by George a few weeks later. The operation itself took only a few minutes under a local anaesthetic and I was kept calm and fully informed of progress by George and his excellent theatre team as it proceeded. The level of post-operative discomfort was considerably less than I had feared and the improvement in my hand's appearance and my manual dexterity were immediate. I have kept up with the important physiotherapy recommended and I am totally satisfied with the outcome. I am now starting the whole process for a second time on the other hand and looking forward in hope and expectation of a similar outcome. I am very grateful to George for his skill and expertise, and to the SMTC and its delightful staff who are committed to maintaining the high level of excellence for which this small unit has a well-earned reputation.

My whole experience from my first appointmeny to surgery and post surgery has been exceptional.Mr George Tamvakopoulos had a very kind and calming 'bedside' manner. He explained at all times what would be happoening in my proceedure. I was always seen promptly for my appointments. and The staff and facilities at the Shepton Mallet treatment centre are excellent.
