This has been the worst experience all my life in NHS. I was schaduled to see him after a wait of almost 18 months as referred to him for a second opinion due to my ongoing leg issue. Having good going vascular risk factors, I was suffering from pain, numbness, weakness of right leg for almost 7 Yrs taking medication for high blood pressure, diabetes, angina and dual antiplatelet for previous TIA’s. Most of the causes of leg symptoms were already excluded by the neurologist at UCL prior to coming to him and I came prepared with their letter. So disappointing to see him having absolutely no knowledge about my problems instead he approached with an opening sentence that I don’t have any vascular problem and he’s a vascular surgeon so he can’t tell me what the issue is. This was my first ever consultation with him and he did not even go through my problems which I insisted on elaborating later on as I waited long to have this consultation. He did not have any info to give me on asking what could have caused the issue. He offered no investigations until my insistence that how will he establish that it’s not a vascular issue. I offered him the self explanatory letter from UCL but he declined despite having no info about my case as he was asking me about my medication etc. It was as if he was determined to discharge me with first consultation showing absolutely no willingness to get to the bottom of my problem despite that I told him how my life is being affected over past 7 years with this leg problem leading me now to limp on my right leg occasionally, he showed no willingness to investigate or get more info. He could have utilised that 20min of consultation in constructive history taking but he spent the entire time going in circles to reassure me that I have no problem. He completely lacked empathy and failed to listen to my problem. I will never recommend him to anyone. It was a completely useless consultation and a waste of time.

He was very understanding and agreed to see me after arriving late for an appointment. He did listen to what I had to say and explained what was going on with my problems. Because he gave me quite a lot of information he said that I would get a copy of the letter going out to my doctors so I could digest what was said. That did not happen, but is being rectified now. As to how good a doctor he is would be difficult to say after only seeing him once but on first impressions he seams quite good at his job.
