I would thoroughly recommend Mr Amen. He is kind, caring, considerate, good at what he does and he really listens. He immediately put me at ease, and, unlike, the several doctors I had seen before him, managed to very quickly identify and resolve the issue I had. I felt in very capable hands and really appreciated his expert knowledge alongside his friendly and professional manner. If only more doctors could be like him!

I was really nervous going in for my first operation and Mr Amen really put me at ease when he introduced himself to me. He reassured me that he had carried out this procedure so many times which made me feel a lot better!
When I woke up my neck line was so neat and it has healed so neat! I never thought I could be happy about a mark on my body but I’m happy to say that when it heals properly you will barely see it!

I had not met Mr Amen prior to the day of my thyroidectomy surgery but, pre-surgery, I was immediately struck by his calm, confident and reassuring demeanour. He explained the procedure comprehensively, was not rushed and answered all my questions. Any surgery is a daunting prospect and the surgeon/patient bond as trust is key to eliminating any anxieties one might be feeling. Mr Amen was there for me for post operation checks and conversation too and, all thanks to him, I am most grateful for how good I am feeling. I would recommend him wholeheartedly.

Mr Amen was my consultant for thyroid surgery. The surgery went very well, and he was thorough in explaining the post-surgery expectations. Peterborough City hospital as a whole has gave me extremely good care in the time I lived there.

He was the international head and neck cancer surgical fellow at the Institut Gustave Roussy, Paris, France’s national and international referral centre for cancer and thyroid surgery and was awarded the Diploma of Head and Neck Cancer Studies at the University of Paris. His main interests are all forms of adult and paediatric ENT Surgery, head and neck cancer and thyroid surgery, and translational genetics cancer research allowing for personalised cancer treatment. He enjoys travelling, graphics design and modern architecture. He is married with two young children.
