Mr Amen was recommended to me by a fellow NHS consultant to treat thyroid cancer as a private patient, as the NHS could not provide a date for an operation after I was diagnosed. After consultations, Mr Amen operated twice to remove the thyroid in two stages. There was no collateral damage to vocal chords, or anything else, and the scar has healed up beautifully. Communication with Mr Amen has been exceptionally good with rapid responses to both emails and phone calls. He is also very easy to talk to during consultations. All in all he has been reassuring during this difficult and worrying time and I would highly recommend him.

I feel greatly honoured to have had this amazing surgeon perform my parathyroidectomy. He made me feel completely at ease and confident in describing exactly what was going to happen. The procedure was carried out as an urgent case due to my high calcium levels. Mr Amen was extremely professional throughout the entire process and I have the greatest respect for him and hold him in the highest esteem.

Mr Amen listened to me from our very first meeting until he had completed my treatment - which he did very successfully. He explained every stage of treatment, the possible side effects - which thankfully were negligible and he answered all of my questions at every stage.
Once treatment was completed, we discussed the way forward and what I might expect in the future in a frank and honest manner, again with all of my questions clearly answered.

His main interests are all forms of adult and paediatric ENT Surgery, head and neck cancer and thyroid surgery, and translational genetics cancer research allowing for personalised cancer treatment.
