I found Mr Amen to be very approachable and his manner put me completely at ease. He explained everything in a way that I could understand and he listened to what concerns I had about the operation and follow up treatment. I really liked the way Mr Amen treated my 8 year old daughter. He spoken to her first and listened to her whilst asking if I had any concerns or questions too.
Mr Amen also has children of his own, which made it very easy to relate to him and to trust my own child in his care. His level of aftercare was great when I had follow up questions (post op).
I would use Mr Amen’s expertise again in a heartbeat.

Dr Amen and his team provided me with exceptional care. Due to Dr Amen's calm manner, his ability to explain the situation in simple (but not condescending) terms, and his decisive plan of action I felt like a potentially scary situation was always under control and manageable. The process of the operation was conducted with a professionalism that made me feel utterly confident in the situation. I was extremely impressed and relieved with the post operation recovery. Pain was managed really well by the hospital team and my recovery was quicker than I could ever imagine.

Furrat Amen is a Consultant ENT/Head and Neck, and Thyroid surgeon at Peterborough City Hospital and Addenbrooke’s Hospital, Cambridge. He trained in all aspects of ENT surgery in London and Paris. Website www.entdoc.co.uk.
He studied medicine at St. Bartholomew’s Hospital, London followed by training in ENT at the Radcliffe Infirmary, Oxford. He was a Specialist Registrar in the North Thames London Rotation based at the Royal National Throat Nose and Ear Hospital, Royal Marsden Hospital and Great Ormond Street Hospital, London. He completed genetics research at the Hammersmith Hospital, London, and was awarded a Masters degree in Surgical Sciences from Imperial College, London.
He was the international head and neck cancer surgical fellow at the Institut Gustave Roussy, Paris, France’s national and international referral centre for cancer and thyroid surgery and was awarded the Diploma of Head and Neck Cancer Studies at the University of Paris. His main interests are all forms of adult and paediatric ENT Surgery, head and neck cancer and thyroid surgery, and translational genetics cancer research allowing for personalised cancer treatment. He enjoys travelling, graphics design and modern architecture. He is married with two young children.
