I had a growing skull osteoid osteoma/osteosarcoma which lately caused me daily headaches whilst under pressure at work with high levels of stress made things only worse. The initial investigation begin as standard however I felt desperate for a change. Luckily I have been offered a list of doctors and instinctively I approached the one and only Dr.Erlick Pereira. From this moment a true blessing come into my life! The investigation was highly professional and with a speed of wind. I never trusted more being foreigner here for 8 years!! After diagnosis and action plan advised Mr.Pereira recommended to check for a 2nd opinion for my case. Without a desire I agreed. I went back to long queues and waiting lists which took me months and some holiday allowance spent, all this for a 2 min chat. Without doubts I couldn't wait to get back where I started to complete the process. Mr.Pereira performed the surgery and it was a success! The lesion has been completely excised and me like reborn again. I was expecting loads of pain during recovery but had none ever since. The hospital staff was simply amazing! Mr Pereira carried out the operation to allow Deep Brain stimulation (DBS)in June 2017. Since then, as I cannot undergo MRI without undue risk, he has been monitoring a long standing slipped disk condition. I first met Mr. Pereira at the DBS assessment when he struck me as helpful and authoritative. Hs follow up ward visits were again reassuring. He has monitored the wounds from the DBS operation assiduously. At the personal level he is caring and kind yet always gets across his technical expertise. He gives answers to my question to him before I ask them Strikes me as a regular nice guy buy always the ultimate professional. As regards the slipped disc , he has offered to respond in any future surgery necessary.

Mr Pereira - I would like to thank and congratulate you and all the staff I came in contact with in the Atkinson Morley wing in St George's in October last year. I felt that I was treated as a person, not as a number or a statistic, and you and your team are to be congratulated on the level and quality of care that you provide. Thank you and well done!

Mr Pereira performed a discectomy in November 2017. He is clearly an excellent surgeon, as I healed exceptionally well, and the scar from the incision is minimal. I resumed normal activities within six weeks, and am delighted to report that the dibilitating back pain that I had previously experienced is now gone. Whilst I still have some tightness in the mornings upon waking, once I move around a bit, I'm fine. I continue to take care with regard to bending, lifting, and turning, of course, but the difference is remarkable. I'm back to myself again. I cannot thank Mr Pereira for his expertise and follow up. My life has been truly transformed in the one year since my surgery.
