I had an Achilles rupture which had been treated conservatively, with a boot and without surgery, but it had healed too long and so was not functional. I first saw Mr Dawe after the initial conservative treatment under the NHS when he diagnosed the problem and recommended surgery to make a mid-substance speedbridge repair. Mr Dawe said that the surgery went well although I think it must have been challenging due to the scarring and adhesions around the healed tendon. The wound healed well, with no complications, and under Mr Dawe's guidance and referral to physiotherapy, the tendon is now back to the normal length and function. Mr Dawe was empathetic and caring throughout, giving clear explanations of the problem and what to expect from the surgery and post-surgery management.

Mr Dawe is very friendly, approachable and empathic and he explained my diagnosis and options for treatment in a clear and understandable way. I had bunion surgery and a Morton’s Neuroma excision. The operation was over with very quickly and the wounds have healed beautifully - such tiny scars! I am back to a normal shoe, with some mild swelling at 6 weeks. There was no need for strong painkillers, just Paracetamol throughout recovery. I feel I’ve recovered quicker this time than I did with the same op on my other foot, which was done by a different surgeon two years’ ago. I have no hesitation in recommending Mr Dawe to others.

Mr Dawe is friendly, approachable, empathic and great at explaining the diagnosis and options available for treatment; he does this is an understandable way. I am very pleased with the outcome of my foot surgery and feel I’ve recovered quicker than I did last time, on the other foot, under a different surgeon. The operation was over quickly and the wound has healed well and I’m back to a normal shoe by 6 weeks, with still some mild swelling. I didn’t need very strong pain relief, just regular Paracetamol throughout. I would have no hesitation recommending him to others.

Mr Dawe is truly excellent and a credit to his profession, and I would have no hesitation in recommending him. His manner is professional, courteous, caring and human, and he has a good sense of humour which put me at ease. The treatment I received from him was first class, and he explained everything about my treatment in a simple manner, and kept me fully informed.

I broke bones in my left ankle and the big toe on my right foot in a fall in 2020. Mr Dawe has been my consultant and he operated on my right toe in September 2022. He has always been kind, approachable and professional, and I have 100% faith in his professional skills. I am now almost 3 weeks post-surgery and recovering well. Thank you, Mr Dawe!

He broadened his experience with limb reconstruction and complex trauma fellowship at St George's Hospital with Alex Trompeter and, following this, a second year-long fellowship in foot and ankle surgery at the Royal Bournemouth Hospital with Heath Taylor.

Mr Dawe was awarded the BOFAS visiting fellowship in 2014, travelling to the Schonklinik in Munich in order to work with Prof Markus Walther, president of the German foot and ankle society. He also travelled to Regions Trauma Centre in Minneapolis to visit the renowned trauma specialist professor Peter Cole.
