Had triple fusion of ankle joints at St Richards hospital. He has also previously reconstructed my achilles tendon with FHL translocation on the other leg. He has excellent communication skills, is kind, compassionate and caring. He is clearly very skilled and knowledgeable surgeon. I highly recommend him.

Mr Dawe took great care with both my physical and mental wellbeing, prior to my ankle operation. Always found time for a proper conversation during out appointments and provided a full explanation of the procedure undertaken.

I'd had foot surgery previously for bunions which hadn't been that successful and I was getting corns between my toes which were excruciating and making me walk with a bad limp. Mr Dawe listened to me, I asked him bluntly if he was any good (now wishing I'd never said it) he immediately diagnosed the problem. Revision hallux valgus correction +2nd and 3rd toe corrections and removal of metal. As I came out of surgery he told me I had extremely soft bones in my feet and referred me on to a bone density doctor, he also gave me strict instructions for recovery with an appointment 6 weeks later. Now six months later I walk straight, like I've never walked before, never thinking about my feet. I'm so grateful to Mr Dawe, I have a smile on my face, stand on my tiptoes and much more. I would thoroughly recommend Mr Dawe. Please don't put up with pain, he certainly is there to help and a very kind and sincere consultant.

I found Mr. Dawe a good listener, very easy to talk to. He explained my options clearly, and explained the procedures similarly. I found his manner very professional and had total trust in his judgements and expertise. He is patient and good-humoured. I would have no hesitation in recommending him to anyone.

Mr Dawe is a very skilled orthopaedic Consultant. I had extreme complex poorly fused ankles and metatarsal joints in my toes which needed remedial surgery due to previous operations. I was in immense pain and unable to walk any distance or enjoy life because of the continuous pain. He listened to my concerns and was so empathetic when we discussed the pain and disability it was causing. We started with transforming my left ankle which now has been aligned with my foot and leg and with the help of painkillers is almost pain free with the possibility of a new ankle in the future. He listened to my fears about having another op due to my previous surgeries with another Consultant. Mr Dawe thoroughly explained the pros and cons in great detail including the problems which could happen with such a complex op. The confidence he gave me was amazing and Wow what a great operation, I can walk

He broadened his experience with limb reconstruction and complex trauma fellowship at St George's Hospital with Alex Trompeter and, following this, a second year-long fellowship in foot and ankle surgery at the Royal Bournemouth Hospital with Heath Taylor.

Mr Dawe was awarded the BOFAS visiting fellowship in 2014, travelling to the Schonklinik in Munich in order to work with Prof Markus Walther, president of the German foot and ankle society.
