25th August 2023 I went for a walk and fell over and broken my hip the ambulance took me to Princess Alexandra Hospital. On 28th August Mr Dennis Kosuge surgeon took great care to explain the procedure thoroughly he took the broken hip out and replace it with a total hip replacement the next day I was walking with the frame. I'm now at 5 months post op back to work and swimming, aqua aerobics walking without a stick and driving again. I couldn't be more pleased at the experience of the procedure and of the aftercare given by Mr Kosuge.

Had a very bent knee due to osteoarthritis which required a TKR. I chose Mr Kosuge as my surgeon and liked that he took great care to explain the procedure thoroughly. I am now at 7 weeks post op and am walking with a straight leg, without a stick and driving again. I couldn’t be more pleased at the whole experience of the procedure and of the aftercare given by Mr Kosuge.

Mr Dennis Kosuge, performed my hip operation at The Princess Alexandra’s Hospital at Harlow Essex. I had seen him in clinic prior to the operation. He explained exactly what the operation would entail. What I could expect from it . I was admitted on the 14 th of November 2023 . I had previously had a pre med and seen physios and occupational health and was given the equipment and advise I needed The operation went very smoothly , Mr Kosurge his registrar and the anaesthetist all came to see me prior to the procedure . They were all very kind and reassuring. I was back in the ward about 3pm . The physios got me out of bed at about 5:30 . Everything was fine . Mr kosuge and his registrar came about 7 pm to check on me I went home the next day. I was most impressed with all the staff on the ward so kind and professional. I was dealt with very well by every on. My one complaint was I had to wait a long time for the operation!!

Profile

Mr Kosuge developed his passion for Trauma & Orthopaedics as a junior doctor and pursued this by enrolling onto the North-East Thames Percival Pott Orthopaedic Training Programme. His training took him to prestigious centres including The Royal London Hospital, The Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital and Norfolk & Norwich University Hospital. He was inspired by a number of his excellent trainers to focus on the subspecialty of hip and knee joint replacements.

Following completion of specialist training in the United Kingdom, he enrolled onto and successfully completed a one-year fellowship at the Royal Adelaide Hospital in Australia under the auspices of Professor Donald Howie. This fellowship allowed Mr Kosuge to refine his skills in hip and knee joint replacements, as well as revision hip replacements. During his orthopaedic training, he was the recipient of the British Orthopaedic Association (BOA) Zimmer Adult Reconstruction Hips and Knees Fellowship in 2014, the AOTrauma Fellowship in 2013 and the Tohoku University Orthopaedic Visiting Fellowship in 2010 – and utilised his time visiting, learning and exchanging ideas with centres of excellence in Japan.
