Mr Calthorpe operated on my spine a few years ago ( at Discectomy) at Nuffield Derby. He put me at ease before the operation and was so caring afterwards. As one of your reviewers said there was no soft soap just straight forward facts. Unfortunately I had a further problem at the bottom of my spine about 3 years ago. He told me he couldnt operate but he could put a injection in which would probably help. I agreed to have this done but when injection time came he was unable to insert the needle because I was so tensed up it just would not go in. I was crying and screaming . Mr Calthorpe however didnt give up. He tried 4 needles smaller each time. He was eventually successful. Bless him.

Mr Calthorpe is definitely and expert and definitely and amazing surgeon with a huge amount of experience and knowledge. However, what good is knowledge, power or influence if the tongue is used like a sword to pierce hearts? He needs to develop listening, speak nicely to patients and his colleagues (I witnessed his harshness to his colleagues) and not rush people! Be more human please

I had back surgery on a herniated disc which was on the S1 root nerve. From beginning to end he filled me with confidence through his thorough knowledge and expertise. I honestly can't thank him enough. I am forever thankful - he is an expert consultant who listens, reassures and is an expert in what he does. Thank you

I had a spinal microdiscectomy performed by MrCalthorpe in January 2019. I cannot thank him enough for giving me my life back after years of debilitating pain.My thanks to him and his great team for the excellent care i received.A true expert in his field!
