This wonderful surgeon performed a hip replacement operation five years ago (1st April 2015) when I was in great pain and was only able to walk with the aid of a walking stick. For many, many years I had very severe back pain due to my left leg being shorter than my other leg, I explained this to Mr. Wonderful and he informed me that he would lengthen the left leg to the same length as the right. Since then I have been able to climb many medium height peaks of the Lake District and cycle 25 miles a day, which isn't too bad as I am now 73 years old. He has given me an extra 15/20 years of wonderful life, every day for the last years has been a joyful experience, for which I am endlessly grateful. Harold Markham

Mr Herlekar took exceptional care of me after having problems with my knee. I was 54 at the time my knee problems started, which is young for a total knee replacement. As my whole knee was not damaged and it the damage was around the knee cap only, Mr Herleker replaced my knee cap. The operation was a huge sucess and I have my quality of life back. I can walk, climb hills and dance again. I have my life back thanks to Mr Herlekar

I cannot praise Mr Herlekar and his team highly enough for the care and professionalism with which they carry out their work. I am recovering well, from a knee replacement done six weeks ago in Kendal at Westmorland General Hospital. Already I am aware that my operated knee is less painful than the unoperated one. I have been in considerable pain for several years. I was terrified of the operation! However, the theatre team were wonderful. They put me at my ease throughout and I am thankful and very grateful that these amazing people work in our NHS. Also, the care from the staff of Ward 7 was brilliant. The food was I as good as at home. I have described the experience to friends and family as almost like a good rest at an excellent hotel. Thankyou all for your work. Linda Cox.

A very personable surgeon who is able to explain and carry out his procedures with a calm and very person friendly manner. He exudes the utmost confidence and precision. The very fact that I wanted to continue horse riding meant that my hip implant was tailored accordingly and he took time to explain after care when I was able to resume riding my horse. I was a very straightforward case with no complications but was meant to feel very special and not just another hip but a patient that needed treatment. Anyone who is assigned to Mr Herlekar are extremely lucky to have his experience and expertise. I thank him most sincerely .
