I had a full left knee replacement on 22 October 2018. I am a male patient aged 68 at the time of my operation, all my arthritis is really down to me exercising over many years of playing football until I was 50, fell walking several days every week and basically making the most of my energetic life. It was bound to get me back. I had already had my left hip replaced by Mr Das the previous year and I specifically asked for Mr Das to replace my left knee. I have total trust in Mr Das, he always has time to listen, gives excellent advice and his manner with me as a patient is just wonderful. He is a real gentleman. I cannot fault the treatment I had from him and all the staff at Kendal Westmorland Hospital. The treatments I have had have led to me having a normal active life, no football but still lots of Dales & Lake District hill walks - very important to me even though I’m ‘wearing out’ other bits of my body. I am now in the process of waiting for a right knee replacement and again I have asked my GP to refer me to Mr Das without any concerns on my behalf. I wish I was half as clever, thank you Mr Das.

I had a left hip replacement in June 2017. From my first meeting with Mr Das I felt totally at ease. He explained everything clearly and I never felt a consultation was ever rushed. Once in Kendal Westmorland hospital the treatment was outstanding leading up to, incuding and following the operation. All the staff were just fantastic, the Surgeon Mr Das, the anaesthetist, theatre staff, nurses, ancillary staff were all outstanding and to top it all off the food was excellent. Pain relief was so good I can’t actually remember having any. Since the replacement my new hip has been just so good and the scar is barely noticeable. I do lots of fell walking as a pastime and I was back doing more difficult walks within 6 months which I find remarkable. I am about to undergo a knee replacement and I asked for Mr Das again and for the operation to be carried out in the same Kendal hospital. I have no worries about this operation as my experience from my hip op was so positive and the result so rewarding. I would like to take this opportunity to thank Mr Das and his entire team for their brilliant work.

I had a hip replacement on 17th December 2015. The whole process was conducted so well that I have nothing but praise for the whole team. The pre-med appointment gave me all the information I needed, supplied all the aids that I would need and how to use them. Operation day was totally stress free, the surgeon, anaesthetist, nurses and all other staff at Kendal did all they had to do perfectly. The whole process was pain free, nursing care was superb, follow up care and physiotherapy was extremely well done. Not one problem for the whole operation. My other hip may require replacing at some point and I will be delighted if I can have the same team again. Very well done to all at Kendal hospital
