This specialist gave a family member absolutely superb care recently. I noticed adverse comments from a previous review. Mr Skipper may be a bit gruff but what on earth do we want, first & foremost, these days? A touchy-feely doctor who's an average clinician or someone in whom you would put total trust on the basis of top surgical skill? Its sad that we've been schooled in recent years to believe that interpersonal skills such as bedside manner are as important as medical skill. They're not! This guy is going inside your body for God's sake. Does anyone really care about the personality of the pilot who's in charge of your aeroplane? No, you just want to know he's tops at flying and dealing with emergencies. That's Mr Skipper. He'd give up his weekend off to make sure his patients were ok too.
Reasonably good with patients but wants it his way, tries to convince you if you disagree rather than respecting your opinion. I have also witnessed him bullying / losing his temper with nurses and younger doctors, both of whom were really good to me. Thus unsure if I'd recommend him.
