I was very nervous about having my operation as I have not needed an operation since I was a child. Mr Ratliff talked me through everything so I understood what needed to be done and why, and this reassured me and helped me to get through the surgery and the recovery time afterwards. The surgery and treatment I received was excellent and the outcome was successful.

I was referred to David Ratliff following a hernia repair failure. From the initial consultation to the post-surgery aftercare appointment, Mt Ratliff made my experience hassle-free. He was very flexible when arranging the appointment & subsequent re-bookings following 2 (my fault) cancellations. His explanation of my procedure (keyhole through a different area owing to scar tissue) was informative & took the anxiety out of the process. A potentially stressful Summer became a pleasant (as possible) experience.

This was the first occasion that I have met and been treated by David Ratliff, he was very professional throughout the whole process. He confirmed what was my problem and agreed to operate on me. Following the operation evrything that he predicted would happen did and four weeks after the operation I feel great. I have the greatest respect for David Ratliff and would strongly recommend him to any potential patients. Excellent all round!

A friendly and confident approach which put me at ease. A comfortable examination. He explained the cause and procedure required to rectify my Inguinal Hernia and the likely time period for admission and operation and after care, and where this would take place. The location in Northampton was local to my home in Northamptonshire. He listened to my plans to visit my brother and family which was overseas and that my flights and hotel was previously booked. Mr Ratliff advised me on how quickly he could see me which was in two weeks from this consultation and the period of recovery I would need before my flight. This gave me time to rearrange and was confident with being able and fit to travel and enjoy me visit. The operation was kept to the day agreed, and I was kept aware of the initial delay due to the previous surgeon overrunning with their morning operations. I would like to thank him for extending his working schedule for the afternoon to ensure that the operation was completed on the day/evening and staffing was available. Aftercare was excellent and it was agreed for me to have an overnight stay to ensure initial recovery was good. I met with Mr Ratliff a few days later with a small blister concern and the Nurse and Mr Ratliff advised me to allow a day or so for it to settle, which it subsequent did. I felt confident that it would be ok. My one month review and release for his care was carried out in a friendly and encouraging manner. I now feel 'repaired' and pleased with my experience and care provided by Mr Ratliff and Nursing staff at the BMI Three Shires Hospital, Northampton.
