I feel very fortunate to have been referred to Mr. Monk. It was always a pleasure to be greeted by his welcoming smile and reassuring manner. He was consistently punctual, professional and approachable offering a perfect blend of expertise, patience and genuine compassion. At all times, I was treated with dignity and his calming presence before, during and after my laparoscopic surgery for a Spigelian Hernia put me at ease. From the beginning of my first appointment with Mr Monk I felt reassured and in very capable hands. All my questions were answered - along with other information and advice given that I hadn't yet thought of. I was able to make considered decisions about my surgery and at no time did I need to hesitate. Mr Monk was, in fact, recommended to my by another Consultant at the Cleveland Clinic, who told me that he would not let anyone else operate on him except Mr Monk. A very confident recommendation and one which I would now echo. From first consultation to my recent post-op appointment (and everything in between) , Mr Monk gave me a level of care that was always exceptional, professional, caring. I am recovering well, everything has gone to plan and I consider myself to have been extremely lucky to have had him as my surgeon. I would not hesitate to suggest his skills as a gastric surgeon. I don't think, as far as my experience is concerned, that can suggest an area where anything could be improved.

Mr Monk was my consultant and surgeon in repairing a hernia and I would highly recommend David! I was unsure of what surgery type to go with (open or keyhole) and he talked me through the respective advantages and risks of the different approaches. He was very patient in answering my questions and noting my specific concerns regarding lifestyle impacts and recovery time. He kindly responded to some additional questions I had after the initial consultation while I was still making my decision. In the end I chose to go with the keyhole approach with David as my surgeon, and I'm very happy I did. On surgery day he came to see me to explain what was going to happen, was with me during the anasthetic, and came to talk with me and my partner after the operation once I was awake to make sure I was OK and had all the right info to recover afterwards. David called me the next day to check in, and in the post op consultation provided information about the next stages in the recovery process. David's calm, professional and warm manner put me at ease throughout the process. You feel he genuinely cares about your issue, treats you with dignity and respect, as well as being friendly and very human. He is also an expert in the field with attention to detail and high quality, as reflected in my successful operation and recovery progress. Many heartfelt thanks David for the care you have provided me! I was absolutely blown away by my experience at Cleveland London. I would recommend the hospital 100%. I recieved consultations, tests, scans, surgery, and after care. Every visit went smoothly, I was treated with dignity and respect throughout. The staff are friendly and seem very happy to be working there, the place is very clean, with excellent facilties. To me, Cleveland is what health care should be like, and I'm delighted to have been cared for there. From the porters on the door, to the nurses, doctors and receptionists every interaction was excellent. The online MyChart feature was also a big highlight for me as it made it very easy to manage my appointments, documents, and it was possible to ask consultants non-urgent questions in between appointments. Outstanding care for the patient ! Clear explanations pre and post testing. Full scope testing and careful review of all possible issues rather than the core single problem. Better then most private doctors I have seen in England and Switzerland combined !

Dr Monk took great care to explain the alternatives available to address the issue. Taking into account my active lifestyle we made the decision and went ahead. I am carefully get back full health now, and would highly recommend Dr Monk
