Great team and looked after me so well.
Mr George made me feel at complete ease throughout my process. He listened to my questions and always answered my queries. I felt completely comfortable and would recommend him to others.
I have had both my right and left hips replaced by Mr George. My right hip replacement took place in May 2024 and the left in November 2024. I was discharged from his care on 8 January 2025.
From my first consultation with Mr George on the 3 April 2024, throughout, Mr George has been professional, reassuring, confident and friendly. He clearly informed me of what was involved in the hip replacement procedure, answered my questions and put my mind at rest regarding my treatment preferences. He listened carefully and had read all my notes thoroughly. This was evident in the detailed reports he fed back to myself and my GP.
He is supported by an extremely competent and caring team at the Rivers Hospital, Sawbridgeworth, where I had both surgeries.
Mr George was there to greet me in the operating theatre each time, calming my nerves by his confident presence. He visited me each day of my stay at the hospital.
The aftercare by the physio and wound teams and Mr George himself was effective and thorough. I had excellent healing of the wound each time. The incision scars are neat and have healed beautifully.
What can I say about my new hips? Before the initial surgery I was in considerable pain, night and day, despite painkillers, affecting my sleep and my entire life. I was using double crutches and movements were painful and restricted, even sitting and lying in bed was excruciatingly painful at some points. By six weeks after the right hip replacement I was able to walk with one or no sticks depending on the distance. My left hip was still keeping me awake at night and I coped during the day by avoiding any kind of twisting or sudden movement. Mr George patiently discussed my options and by three months after the first surgery , I was so confident and pleased with the outcome of the first surgery that I opted for the left hip replacement.
Where am I now in my recovery? I have transformed from a disabled person, at one point attending a three day convention in a wheelchair, and daily using double crutches to an active and increasingly fit woman. The joint pain is gone, I walk well and swim a lot. I can lift my youngest grandchild and wear heels ( not too high ;) ) again! Mr George has informed that my hips will continue to heal and strengthen for about a year.
Obviously the expert surgery by and care from Mr George have restored my quality of life, freed me from pain and given me back movement. I have some stiffness especially if I sit for a while, however I am almost 70 years old and who knows that I wouldn’t have had this anyway. The stiffness alleviates quickly on moving.
I am hugely thankful to Mr George for his expertise and care. I have no hesitation in recommending him.
Mr. George gave me all the information I needed to make the decision to go ahead with op an easy one.
Mr David George is a very professional caring and knowledgeable consultant orthopaedic surgeon. He did my total hip replacement in November last year. He answered all my questions I asked, nothing was too much bother for him.
My partner will be going to him for his hip replacement as well. It most definitely has changed my life for the better
