Mr David Cheung

I was referred to Mr Chueng as an NHS patient to have reconstructive eyelid surgery following the removal of a Basal Cell Carsinoma near my eye. The removal was done at Solihull and the reconstruction by Mr Cheung was done at Sandwell. I received excellent care at Sandwell by all the staff and I had absolute confidence in Mr Cheung and so did the theatre staff. The operation was over 2 hours long but I was put at my ease by Mr Cheung and all the other staff. When I returned to have stitches removed Mr Cheung explained exactly how to treat the wound and what to expect in the coming weeks. I felt well informed and knew that if I had any concerns I could email him. He has seen me several times in clinic to check on progress and has now discharged me after nearly 9 months of care. I cannot overstate how impressed I am by the NHS care I received.

I chose David for an oriental blepharoplasty with ptosis correction and from the initial consultation I knew I was in great hands. He was extremely thorough and listened to all my concerns, carefully explaining every part of the process so I knew exactly what the procedure would involve. On the day of the surgery I was really nervous but David and the nurses were all really kind and quickly I began to relax. The procedure itself was basically painless, a small pinch when they inject the anaesthetic around your eye area and after that you don’t feel anything at all. Over the recovery period David responded promptly to any further questions I had within a day or sometimes a few hours which was really reassuring. I am really happy with the final results and I couldn’t recommend him enough to anyone thinking of going through with this kind of procedure!

After extensive research I opted to go with Dr Cheung for my a bilateral blepharoplasty with ptosis. I am pleased that I did. From the initial assessment through surgery and follow up afterwards he has been absolutely outstanding. He explained what the procedure involved in detail and with great care. He outlined the pros and cons and I was in no doubt about the potential complications of the surgery. He was honest and transparent throughout. He has a fantastic bedside manner and I always felt safe and well looked after under his care. His communication skills are outstanding. When I had a slight complication a week after surgery I sent him a message and he rang me, at home, with 15 minutes and saw me within 2 days - first thing in the morning as that was most convenient to me. I would not hesitate Dr Cheung to anyone who wished to undergo the surgery that I had.

He is refreshingly down to earth as well as accommodating of any concerns that his patients may have. We have also had a real giggle during a procedure which was great! Right from the initial consultation, David put my mind at ease, explaining all of my options clearly, along with pro's and con's for each. There was no pressure at any point to opt for any of the procedures, and all consultations were very relaxed. We had a few consultations leading up the surgery (Frontalis Suspension), each one giving me more confidence that I'd chosen the right Surgeon. The day of the surgery was again, very relaxed, which eased the slight nerves. David and his team were great throughout, providing commentary throughout so I knew exactly what was going on at all times. The surgery itself was slightly uncomfortable, but the only pain was from the initial anesthetic injections. Post surgery, I was given all of the medical ointments that I'd need, along with some advice for the following few days. The package also included a number of follow-up aftercare appointments, which again, David was great with, explaining each time the healing process, and what I could expect between the current and the next appointment. Overall I'm 100% happy that I made the right choice in choosing David, and wouldn't hesitate to recommend him to anyone needing surgery, or just a friendly consultation to explore their options.
