Mr Chou performed a total hip replacement for me recently at the Nuffield Hospital in Cambridge, using the Mako Robotic Arm. From the moment I first met him I was impressed by his professionalism, depth of knowledge, experience and also by his caring attitude. He is one of those people who listens carefully to you, and makes you feel at ease. He explained everything to me really clearly about the upcoming procedure and I left feeling confident and that I would be in safe hands. The operation went extremely well and I even went home a day early. I had very little ongoing pain and when I was reviewed after six weeks, Mr Chou said I had made a great recovery. There is no difference in leg length and I am back to living a normal life again after a couple of years of pain and discomfort. He also has a great team who work with him at the Nuffield - a wonderful anaesthetist who performed spinal anaesthesia meaning I came round immediately after the operation and had no pain or feelings of grogginess. I can highly recommend Mr Chou to anyone thinking about having similar surgery.

From the moment I met Mr Chou he was courteous, warm and friendly which put me at my ease. He listened attentively to me about my arthritis and my need to wait so long for surgery because of my polymyalgia rheumatica and the high steroid dose I had previously been on but that I was now in remission. Mr Chou said he was happy to take on my surgery and would expect to have it done by the end of the year but if I was happy to, he could offer me a cancellation should one arise sooner, which I was delighted to accept. He went on to explain very thoroughly about the surgery, its risks and benefits and answered all my questions. Just six weeks later I had my very successful surgery. Soon after I arrived the morning of my operation, Mr Chou came to see me and talked me through the day ahead. When I went to theatre he met me again and reassured me all was well and was waiting beside me in the recovery room as soon as I awoke post surgery with a big smile telling me I had a shiny new hip and that I would soon be ready for dancing. I feel very lucky to have had Mr Chou and his excellent team taking such good care of me and my recovery has been excellent.
