I saw Mr Darren Chester several months after a separate gastric surgery (sleeve gastrectomy) for weight loss. The amazing surgeon who performed this surgery recommended Mr Chester when I asked about post surgery correction. I had lost a lot of weight and i had a large apron around my middle which i found uglier following weight loss. After several meetings with Mr Chester and discussing the various options in detail, we (an important point - it was entirely collaborative) agreed that a fleur de lis abdominoplasty would produce the results that i wanted, and that was to simply remove the large fold of skin around my middle and hips, lift my pubis area, repair my muscle damage inside my tummy, and help the bulbous fatty areas under my breasts. Mr Chester was very strict about certain conditions i had to meet to be ready for surgery ensuring that the procedure was as safe as it could be, and this meant some frustrating delays on my part, but also shone a light on the professionalism and well-deserved fine reputation of this surgeon who did not compromise on safe conditions. The surgery went very, very well, and recovery was as expected. I have to be honest and tell you that this surgery is far from simple, and the affected area is extensive (hundreds of stitches inside and out). The pain and discomfort is horrendous for almost two weeks (for me) and i only felt recovered to a relatively ‘normal’ position after about 4 weeks or so. Neverleless, the outcome for me is life changing. The psychological torment i have suffered my entire life was lifted immediately, and now i feel like a new woman with a total new lease of life. The surgery was everything i could have hoped for, and the results fantastic. After almost a year, my scarring is fading and barely numb now, and i have only one small area which is a little raised but other than that the scarring is absolutely unbelievable bearing in mind the extent of the operation. My tummy isn’t washboard flat (which i know some women want); i asked to look natural, and being a larger framed person and one who has always been overweight, i wanted to look womanly and more ‘round’. Mr Chester couldn’t possibly have done a better job. Whilst my tummy is firm, i look very natural for my size and I'm 100% happy (and amazed everyday) by the results. My hips are smooth, and again look natural and i’m delighted with the results. Mr Chester and the team at Droitwich Spa Hospital provided amazing care and support, and it made a the difficult experience of surgery into one that i can look back on with much relief and gratitude.
