Written by a patient at Chase Farm Hospital
8th October 2019

I so recommend this ‘cool’ surgeon who operated on me today. He won’t remember me but that’s okay. Following a routine smear in July 2019 it was found that I had severe abnormal cell changes in cervix. So following consultation I opted for procedure under local anaesthetic. I had this procedure before, about 14 years ago and went back to work afterwards. Last Monday the procedure was abandoned under another consultant’s care. Maybe It was simply fear or a bad reaction to adrenaline in the local, who knows, but Just wanted to flee with the speculum in situ! A very sobering, not to be repeated episode. Chase Farm fast-tracked this quivering wreck of a patient to its day surgery today. Post-operatively, no bleeding and no pain. The day care team are amazing. I Am so relieved that Mr Selo-Ojema carried out this procedure. A message to my sisters i.e. women of all ages, if you are offered a smear test, please take the test. If, like me, it was going to be the last one (smear tests on NHS end at 65 years) spend a little money and have it done privately. It could save your life. Thanks for reading this far ladies and grateful thanks to Mr Selo-Ojema. World class. Feeling blessed. Sincerely Susan Clifford
