Mr. Rolton really listened to me when I first went to see him. He gave me several options and helped walk me through what each entailed. I went into surgery extremely confident with my choice, and it is because of him that I felt so comfortable with the decision of surgery.

My first appointment was within a week of contacting Dan Rolton’s secretary. Dan Rolton explained the different steps to treat my cervical disc prolapse and did not rush for surgery. The pain was unbearable initially and Dan adjusted my treatment to improve pain management (and later guided me how to stop painkillers when I no longer needed them). Dan first did a nerve block injection in theatre and he was very reassuring throughout this procedure. Eventually, I required surgery and am very grateful for Dan Rolton’s expert surgical skills as the pain was gone as soon as I woke up. I was able to stop all painkillers within days and just experienced some discomfort while eating for a few days-which Dan had warned me could happen after surgery and I ate soft food for a week. At all times, Dan gave me plenty of information about my treatment options and he answered all my questions. The scar on my neck is hardly visible and hidden in natural skin creases. My family commented on how discreet the scar was and most people don’t even see it. Dan Rolton was very kind and reassuring throughout my treatment. I am back to work, running regularly and doing everything as before the disc prolapse now. I did not expect to be able to do this a year ago. Dan Rolton works with an excellent anaesthetist, Dr Patrick Dill-Russell, who ensured that I coped well with the surgery and I went home within 24 hours of the operation. I recommended Dan Rolton to a friend who benefitted from an injection for a similar issue and did not require surgery although another neurosurgeon had recommended surgery as a first step. I have full trust in Dan Rolton’s clinical skills and his kindness is exceptional.

From our initial conversation it was clear I was being listened to and while I am sure many other patients were being seen on the same days I had appointments time was taken to discuss my spinal pain and options available to me. The treatment I received was excellent and while still at the early stage I feel confident I will be supported as and when the symptoms recur.
