I have nothing but praise for Mr Williams and his team. I was listened to and any queries answered. Treatment at the Duchy Hospital was very good and everything went very smoothly. Most important of all is my hip is pain free and I am able to anything I like. Follow up was done by phone and any points I had were dealt with. I would not hesitate in recommending Mr Williams to others.

I had a partial knee replacement on my right knee,as i had oa on both knees and the right at that time was bone on bone and extremely painful, i saw Mr Dan Williams and was given a partial knee replacement as hed advised, he went through all the options with me and told me any risks involved in the operation, i had the operation and followed all the advise he gave me, and i was surprised how quickly i became mobile again and no pain!! I would always recommend him as a brilliant surgeon , as he listened to any worries i had and advised me in everything, i am now waiting for my left knee replacement by him, and cannot wait as the pain is extruciating and i know the difference it will make to my life again and ill be able to be mobile with no pain in either knee. I couldnt have asked for a better surgeon.

This is 2 years after my Knee surgery. The pre surgery advice and post surgery advice given was excellent. I followed them and because of the pandemic I was able to rebuild my knee strength in that time given the advice of cycling & walking. Having done this I'm pleased to say everything is very much like had I hoped it has become. I feel revitalised and athletically empowered but with caution and control not like in my youth but strong again. Thanks you Mr Dan Williams.

I have recently had a hip replacement by Dan Williams. Prior to the operation he clearly described my options and gave me the pros and cons of each. The surgery went very well and I was in and out in a couple of days. On the follow-up meetings he clearly laid out what I can and more importantly what I should not do during the initial healing stage. He also explained how long the healing process takes and the importance of allowing everything to heal properly. The recovery is frustrating but knowing the long-term benefits of doing it correctly made the process so much easier to tolerate. I now look forward with confidence that the operation which has put an end to the pain will also last for many years into the future. I am now looking forward to getting out cycling again. Thanks to Mr Williams and his team.

I had a partial knee replacement 1 year ago by Dan Williams and I can honestly say he’s given me my life back. For two years prior to surgery I was in excruciating pain unable to walk long distances but apart from a month after the procedure I have no pain at all!! The biggest thing that helped me before surgery and still is, was to be told to use an exercise bike. At first I thought I would be unable to do this but it is the best thing to do not only did it strengthen my upper leg it also helped me to loose weight and inches

Profile

Mr Dan H Williams MBBCh MSc FRCS

Mr Dan H Williams is a Consultant in Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgery at Schoen Clinic, London and Royal Cornwall Hospital and Duchy Hospital, Truro with an interest in Primary and Revision Hip & Knee Replacement.

Dan qualified from University of Wales College of Medicine in 1998 and trained in South Wales, Australia and South Africa before becoming a registrar in the South West of England. He underwent sub-specialty fellowships in trauma, complex knee and hip replacement surgery in Seattle, Oxford and Vancouver.

A Master's degree in Orthopaedic Engineering from Cardiff University provided a basic science foundation upon which he’s built a strong research portfolio. Published work has looked at hip resurfacing (and the recent problems with metal ion levels), clinical outcomes following joint replacement (with an emphasis on returning to sporting activity) and techniques of revision hip and knee surgery.

Dan wanted to bring his research experience into everyday practice; to quantify and capture the impact of surgery on patients and to track these benefits into the long-term. Finding nothing appropriate available, he helped to develop MyClinicalOutcomes, a web-based system that monitors patient symptoms remote from the hospital before and after treatment and into the long term.

Outside of work he enjoys all that the Cornish outdoors has to offer while spending time with friends and family.
