Really happy with the care. The initial advice was very clear and the tests done were comprehensive. The discussion of results and options were also very helpful. Would recommend Mr Anderson

This man is a very talented surgeon who removed my cancerous kidney three years ago without fuss, with maximum efficiency and excellent 6 monthly surveillance and care thereafter. He is very approachable and has good bedside manager. Answers all questions in a straightforward manner in language even I can understand. Just as important, his PA is super efficient and very helpful. She is his wife!

This consultant has always listened to what I have said, taken notes, and provided clear information in follow up letters to GP and myself. As a result I feel I have good information about the condition, prognosis and treatment. The treatment he has recommended seems to be working satisfactorily.

Raised PSA - moderately enlarged prostate. x 3 MRIs (+ follow-up consultations) over 3 years (MRIs were inconclusive but showed PIRADS 3 change/lesion) and template prostate biopsy under GA at the Cromwell Hospital. Biopsy established benign prostate enlargement. Things I liked: I would rate Mr Anderson's skill as a surgeon at the very highest level. I had complete faith in him. His advice to undergo a biopsy (albeit he left the decision to me) to establish whether I had early-stage prostate cancer or not was clearly the right advice. Things I liked less: I was not told that I would need to attend hospital for pre-assessment tests on a separate day before my biopsy (I'm not sure whether this was the consultant's responsibility or the hospital's). I would have welcomed more guidance about what to expect after the biopsy (significant blood in semen etc.,) and perhaps a greater understanding of the biopsy technique before it was carried out (this would have helped in knowing what to expect after the operation). I should stress that the things I liked about Mr Anderson far outweighed the things I liked less.

Dear Dr Anderson, On the 5th October last year you operated me of a nephrectomy due to kidney cancer. Since then I have been able to conduct a normal life feeling every day better since then. I am so grateful to you and the entire staff who assisted me throughout the whole very delicate operation. I am 85 years old and I want to express my sincere thanks for having saved my life knowing how complicated such an operation may have been. Thank you and thank you again. Marco Tomacelli Filomarino

Mr Christopher Anderson is a consultant Urological surgeon with a general Urological practise as well as a specialist interest in renal and prostate cancer. In his general Urological practise he manages a wide spectrum of conditions : urinary infections, voiding and bladder problems, enlarged prostates (BPH), haematuria (blood in urine), circumcision, fertility workup, vasectomy / reversal vasectomy and erectile dysfunction. He has particular expertise in minimally invasive robotic and laparoscopic surgical approaches. Mr Anderson completed his undergraduate work at Stellenbosch and his postgraduate training in Cape Town, South Africa, before taking up a substantive consultant post at St George's Healthcare in 1999. He undertook fellowships to Cleveland, the University of Miami and Detroit in the United States before travelling to the University of Leipzig in Germany to further his training in both renal and prostate cancer surgery. Mr Anderson was one of the first to adopt laparoscopic techniques in urology surgery in the UK. In 2004 he introduced laparoscopic renal cryotherapy, also the first operation of its kind in the UK. He continued to develop this technique and has the largest series with long term follow-up in the country. He was an integral member of the team that pioneered robotic surgery in the UK, introducing the robotic surgery programme to St George's Healthcare in July 2008, and has successfully developed the service as lead robotic surgeon.
