After a botched punch biopsy on the bridge of my nose I was left with a large circular scar of thin dark skin which filled with keratin and had also increased in diameter over subsequent years. I returned to the NHS hospital that done the punch biopsy to ask if they could repair my scar. Their response was inconclusive. They may be able to repair the scar but they could also make it worse. Their conclusion was that they should monitor it! I was put in touch with Mr. West through my local Spire hospital. Mr. West was confident that he could repair this large keratin filled scar and leave me with an indiscernible, discreet scar. Mr. West repaired my scar in February 2023 and as promised, I have been left with the tiniest of scars, about the width of a cotton thread. To the untrained eye there does not appear to be any scarring. I am 100% satisfied. Mr. West was very informative, telling me what was involved, what the likely result would be and also how to care for my nose after his procedure.

I had a tiny dot on my nose which I was being vein about and asked if it could be removed as well as eye lift surgery, my eyelids do look better even though the right eyelid has now sagged abit but my nose looks absolutely awful! He did a punch biopsy, I trusted him and went along with this I didn’t even know what a punch biopsy was, my nose now has a dint in it! Looks horrible I’m devastated! Big brown mark with a dint! And Iv paid for that! Why couldn’t he be honest and say your nose is fine it’s looks much better now than it will with a big hole in it in a years time!

Profile

I’ve been specialising in plastic surgery for more than 15 years, and I feel very fortunate to perform procedures that can make such a positive impact on people’s lives. I’ve a breadth of experience that has ranged from simple removal of unsightly moles or eyebags, to putting people back together after shark bites. So whatever treatment you may be looking for, my field of expertise encompasses all aspects of cosmetic surgery, and I hope to provide you with experienced advice on any cosmetic procedure of the face, body and breasts.

I studied medicine at the University of Leeds (1998) and trained locally in Manchester and Leeds, and then internationally in Perth, Australia. In 2011 I was awarded Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons in Plastic Surgery, and I’m on the GMC Specialist Register as a plastic surgeon. I have a postgraduate degree (MD, University of Manchester) for a two-year period of medical research I undertook in Sweden looking at reconstruction after peripheral nerve injury.

I specialised in Cosmetic Surgery with a National Interface Fellowship in Reconstructive Cosmetic Surgery. I worked closely with plastic surgeons, ENT, maxillofacial surgeons and ophthalmologists, which enables me to provide you with a combined experience in all aspects of cosmetic breast, body, eyelid, ear and facial surgery.

I’m also of the new generation of certified hand specialists with cross-specialty expertise in both orthopaedic aspects (bone and joints) and plastic surgery aspects (nerves, tendons, skin and soft tissues) of hand and arm disorders. I studied in the world-renowned Pulvertaft Hand Centre and was awarded British Diploma in Hand Surgery. I’m experienced in treating the whole spectrum of hand conditions and injuries, including carpal tunnel syndrome, Dupuytren's contracture, trigger finger, ganglions and arthritis of the hand, as well as more complex, less common hand problems.

I’m a fully accredited Consultant Plastic Surgeon with an NHS practice based at Whiston Hospital, the largest plastic surgery centre in the Northwest. My specialist NHS service is focused on the correction of breast asymmetry and deformity, hand injuries, complex limb reconstruction, and facial reconstruction for skin cancer. I work within the Regional Centre for Complex Abdominal Wall reconstruction, specializing in tummy tuck and scar revision for the cosmetic repair of diastasis recti and problematic hernias.

I hope to see you in my clinic soon, as you prepare to make a change for the better.
