Having difficulty swallowing an Xray revealed a pharyngeal pouch. Mr Eng went into great detail about the two alternatives, one using endoscopic surgery, the other via open surgery . He felt that endoscopic surgery would be successful and he was right This involved stapling the pouch under general anaesthetic and required only one night stay in hospital . After about two weeks I was swallowing normally again. Mr Eng is obviously an expert in his field

Mr Eng is a consummate professional. He listens carefully to the patient, reading between the lines and assessing the underlying concerns. He then addresses those concerns in a very clear, positive and direct manner, explaining his approach to diagnosis and treatment and ordering the requisite tests without delay or excuse. Mr Eng's competence in his field permeates his dialogue and his easy and deserved confidence is comforting and reassuring. In old parlance, his bed-side manner is impeccable. Mr Eng is quick to cut to the chase and explain the results of tests, carefully measuring the level and detail of his explanations in accordance with the patient's ability to understand. Coming from Malaysia, Mr Eng's English is fluent. Thankfully, I left Mr Eng's consultancy without any worrying diagnoses, so the reader might expect some bias in my reporting given my intrinsically positive experience. However, if things had gone the other way, I am completely sure that I would have been pleased to have Mr Eng as my Consultant throughout as I would have been sure of receiving honest medically opinion and a very certain commitment to the best lines of treatment. Overall a very impressive Consultant with a very helpful and courteous secretary (Mrs Sinclair)

My operation, a parotidectomy, in September 2015, was to be conducted by another surgeon whom I had already met. When I found out my surgeon was different, Mr. Eng, I asked to meet him, he was more than happy to do this and put my mind at rest immediately. The operation was a success. My follow up appointment was in December 2015. I found Mr. Eng to be reassuring and competent.

I found Mr Eng to be a very kind man with a relaxed friendly manner, prepared to listen, it was obvious that he cared and was very compassionate. He kept me well informed throughout. As a matter of interest on occasion i spoke to his private secretary (Mrs Ruth Page) and equally found her very pleasant and well informed.
