I was very nervous as this was the first operation I've had since having children. Mr Alkhaffaf made me feel completely at ease and reassured me with his extensive knowledge.

What can I say about Mr Alkhaffaf? I was diagnosed with Stage 3 Oesophagus and Stomach cancer in May 2015. I was absolutely terrified not only being diagnosed with cancer but in anticipation of the gruelling operation I would have to have. However, as soon as I met Mr Alkhaffaf he put me at ease. His easy yet confident manner made me feel that I was safe in his hands and he explained the operation and after care in Layman's terms. I came out of the initial consultation feeling reassured. After my 9 hour operation, he contacted my Mum direct from the operating theatre to reassure her all went well and she has never forgotten this personal touch and still speaks highly of Mr Alkhaffaf 5 years on. Whilst recovering in Hospital Mr Alkhaffaf came to see me on a regular basis, and also came in person to relay the histology results to me. I understand that he has also made strides to change how the operation takes place (key hole) and is always researching ground breaking ways to improve patients outcomes. His level of commitment to his patients is second to none. I cannot recommend Mr Alkhaffaf enough. A wonderful human and a fantastic Surgeon.

From the moment I met Mr Allhaffaf I was impressed. I have never had surgery before but he answered all my queries and made sure I understood the process involved and what to expect for the recovery period. He came to see me the morning of my op and then a few hours after to check all was ok and then the next morning, first thing, he was on the ward to check on how my first night had been. I have just been discharged from his care following my 6 week ‘recovery’ period - to be honest the surgery was carried out in such a manner that really from day 2 or 3 I felt fully normal again, but even though I didn’t need him - there was a telephone number to reach him and his team if I needed. I’m glad my first op was carried out by someone who actually seems to enjoy doing a perfect procedure and that takes pride in his work!

I would highly recommend Mr. Bilal Alkhaffaf as a wonderful consultant surgeon. Met him for a second opinion on my Oesophagus junction cancer. No hesitation in asking him to look after my health care/operation. His relaxed manner and clear explanations were brilliant. He agreed to look after my health care and operation (with Mrs. Farooq at Salford Royal hospital). The operation lasted ten hours (Oesophagectomy), to remove T3 tumour located near the junction with my stomach. Major surgery to remove 2/3 of my Oesophagus and over 1/3 of my stomach using keyhole surgery. Operation went as planned with minimum after effects. This guy is awesome and I have nothing but praise and gratitude to him (and Mrs. Farooq) for their care. As a consultant surgeon he is very approachable, polite, courteous with a good sense of humour. Thank you, The Captain.

UNDERWENT AN INGUINAL HERNIA REPAIR 30/01/2019. FROM THE FIRST CONSULTATION DR ALKHAFFAL WAS INFORMATIVE AND VERY RE-ASSURING, PUTTING ME AT TOTAL EASE EXPLAINING WHAT THE PROCEDURE ENTAILED. ON THE DAY OF SURGERY, EVERY EFFORT WAS MADE TO MAKE ME COMFORTABLE FROM THE START. IT IS NORMAL FOR ANYONE TO HAVE CONCERNS PRIOR TO SURGERY, BUT I CAN ASSURE ANY FUTURE PATIENTS OF DR ALKHAFFAL THAT THEY ARE IN THE BEST CARE AND CAN EXPECT TO RECEIVE THAT CARE FROM EVERYONE IN HIS TEAM.
