My sister had a shattered ankle and leg repaired by Mr Ben Hickey who explained everything he was going to do before the operation. After the operation he came up to the ward and went through everything he had done and stayed with my sister until he was happy with all her obs etc. His bedside manner was impeccable, he was such a caring surgeon. Wrexham Maelor Hospital are very lucky to have such a skilled caring surgeon

I have had trouble for years with pain in my feet and finally got referred to see if anything could be done. X-rays were taken and I was moved into the care of Mr Hickey. On my first consultation he was very positive, friendly and professional, which put me at ease. All my options were discussed and he highlighted what was best for me with regards to my job and lifestyle, along with answering any question I had. I was referred by my doctor to a different consultant who I had seen previously. Due to sudden sickness my appointment was transferred to Mr Hickey. Mr Hickey listened to my symptoms, examined my foot, took x-rays and discussed all options thoroughly. I have haglund syndrome and this was to be my fourth operation. Mr Hickey discussed surgery and recovery in depth to ensure it was the right choice for me. I was also offered an alternative but believe surgery was the the right long term option. I’m pleased to say the surgery was successful and my recovery is going well ..... it’s a slow process but we knew that. I now have feeling in parts of my foot/ankle that I didn’t after my last surgery, amazing. Mr Hickey and his team are friendly, professional and compassionate. Thank you
