Mr Bassel Zebian

I have seen Mr Zebian multiple times over the last year and he has carried out surgery on my spine, as I had a spinal fluid leak causing my brain to sag. He is fantastic and very knowledgeable in his field. He helped provide clarity and a reason as to why I had been feeling so poorly for so long. He helped guide me through exactly what I needed to do, to ultimately lead to the stage where he could operate and fix the problem. I saw him privately at Kings College Hospital and also other locations in London. He provided both excellent and understandable explanations and also a great level of customer care. My problem is now fixed and I’ve had no symptoms since. I highly recommend him.

It is almost exactly a year since we first met Mr. Zebian. Since then he has carried out two operations to resolve my son’s Chiari malformation, provided post-operative care and a six month check-up. As a result of the care provided by Mr. Zebian and his team my son’s life has turned around. He has gone from someone too poorly to leave his bed most days to a teenager fully engaged with life who will be sitting his GCSEs this summer. The change in him is remarkable - he has regained his life. This is down to Mr. Zebian and his team. Mr. Zebian went to great lengths to make himself available to discuss matters when important decisions needed to be made - phoning in from overseas when necessary and visiting us on the ward late at night after theatre. On the rare occasion that Mr. Zebian himself was not available, his team were and they were fully briefed. Mr. Zebian was able to explain my son’s condition and the surgical options available in such a way that we as parents and our teenage son felt that we had all the information that we needed to understand the situation and make informed decisions with a good understanding of the risks. These discussions were undertaken with great care and compassion and at no point did we feel talked down to, patronised or rushed. I was particularly struck by Mr. Zebian’s desire to understand my son’s future goals and career aspirations and the time he took to explore with us the extent to which the different surgical options available might impact upon them. I have not yet mentioned Mr. Zebian’s skills as a surgeon. Indeed, it is difficult for me to comment on them in a meaningful fashion, other than to say that my son had the best possible outcome from the surgery and at all times we felt that our son’s care was in the best hands. What more can I say? Through his expertise as a surgeon Mr Zebian has given my son his life back and through his compassion, kindness and care he helped us as parents navigate our way through one of the most difficult situations life can throw at you. If I or anyone dear to me were ever in the unenviable position of requiring neurosurgery in the future, without a second’s hesitation, I would recommend Mr Zebian and his team at Kings.

Dr Zebian cared for our daughter in the days running up to surgery, during the surgery and post surgery. I particularly rated his decision making during the operation. He involved all of the key people and knew what operational boundaries he could work in to manage risk. He is clearly a clever, knowledgeable brain surgeon. He also has great people skills and is reassuring confident when you talk to him. He also adapts his style in a way that reassures the younger patients. After the surgery he was on annual leave but he phoned the hospital every single day and reviewed scans demonstrating his care towards his patients. We may need further surgery and if we do I most certainly will be asking for Dr Zebian

From the first consultation to the post-operative follow-ups, Mr. Zebian has demonstrated remarkable professionalism, he took the time to explain the procedure and addressed all our concerns. We are incredibly grateful for the positive outcome of our son’s surgery and recovery.

Can not thank Mr. Zebian enough for all the professional work he has done while my son was at King's hospital.
