Mr Barrie White has been my consultant for 2 years, he saved my life 2 years ago removing a meningioma from my thoracic spine which was close to paralysing me or worse, following surgery I have regained my mobility and total sensation from the chest down. Without his care and wonderful skills things would be very different, he is a total gentleman, very reassuring, explains everything clearly and gives you total confidence to put your trust and health in his hands.

Dear Mr White My husband Michael had an mri scan last Tuesday 17th May which you requested. Michael's symptoms are getting worse, just getting concerned now. Michael keeps trying to phone your secretary for the last few days to find out his results, but no one is answering, it's just an answerphone. My husband has left a message, but still got no reply yet. We are both worried, as we don't know his results yet. Sorry to bother you, just wondered if you have the mri results back yet. I first saw Mr White 10 years ago due to ongoing neurosurgical concerns. Around 5 years ago my situation became critical, and since then Mr White has been directly responsible for saving my life a number of times. I cannot begin to express my gratitude - his surgical skill has given me a quality of life that has far exceeded my expectations. He has consistently gone 'up and beyond' with his dedication and innovative surgeries to try and stabilise my condition. I'm aware that my case has been discussed at national conferences. Mr White never takes knowledge for granted and always strives to give cutting edge care, based on the latest evidence and understanding. This is underpinned by extensive experience and the highest level of skill - allowing him to make sensible, careful decisions based on the best evidence. More than anything, I want to echo the previous reviews which have praised Mr White's kindness, gentleness, and supportive bedside manner. He has always made me feel safe, emotionally prepared, and involved in every part of my journey. I cannot think of another surgeon that has such high ability, knowledge and genuine care for their patients. I have absolute faith and trust in Mr White, and anyone would be truly lucky to be in his care.

I wish to say a big thank you to Mr White who never fails to please. He recently supported me through a very stressful time by supporting my cause for ill health retirement. He took in to consideration all aspects of my health, my pain and discomfort caused by my spinal cord failure plus the mental issues caused by the knock on effect. He is truly interested in his patients and willing to consult if problems arise. He is a fine gentleman, neurosurgeon and credit to the NHS. K J N.

I had back pain for years which escalated in 2005 and had to pay for my own MRI as my GP prescribed painkillers! This showed a meningioma in my spinal canal and Mr White was the expert. I wrote to Mr White after the surgery thanking him for operating within two weeks and the excellent care I had received. Recently, I have been diagnosed with spinal stenosis and received a spinal epidural which sadly has been unsuccessful. Dr Czernicki, who performed the epidural, asked if he could remember me to Mr White which resulted in my receiving another letter from Mr White. He had obviously looked at my MRI and wrote a very caring letter wishing me well. This man is amazing.
